BANGKOK, 28 June 2022: In its latest announcement released Monday, the Civil Aviation of Thailand recommends airline passengers continue to wear masks during flights as the country does away with most Covid-19 regulations.
Mask-wearing outdoors or in uncrowded places is now voluntary, but residents and travellers are advised to wear them in closed areas such as public transport, airline cabins and shopping malls. Local media reports suggest Thais and residents are in no hurry to ditch their masks. Most continue to wear them outside or in well-ventilated areas, so travellers should follow their lead if they want to blend in.
CAAT’s Pilot Notification (NOTAM) posted on the agency’s Facebook page Monday informed airlines worldwide about the latest improved measures on air travel to Thailand.
As of 1 July, the Thailand Pass has been abolished along with the mandatory health insurance requirement.
Fully vaccinated passengers can enter Thailand without undergoing tests for Covid-19. They need to show a certificate of vaccination. If they have a respiratory illness, they should take a Rapid Antigen Test (PRO-ATK) to be on the safe side.
Passengers who are not vaccinated or have not completed the entire vaccinated course will need to show a PRO-ATK or RT-PCR negative test result no later than 72 hours before travel to be able to enter the country.
Airlines will have to verify documents of international passengers for vaccination documents or PRO-ATK or RT-PCR results. If passengers do not have any of the above documents, they will have to comply with the order of the checkpoint authorities.
For international airlines, crew certification documents can be submitted to facilitate the crew. However, the disease control authorities may review the documents.
Meanwhile, Thailand’s night entertainment spots will be allowed to open until 0200. A ban on serving or selling alcoholic beverages between 1400 and 1700 remains in place, with a few exceptions. Tourist hotels can serve alcoholic beverages from 1400 to 1700. Also, provincial governors have the power to allow restaurants and bars serving tourists to remain open in the afternoon to sell alcoholic beverages. Some governors have already provided written authorisation that allows restaurants to sell alcoholic beverages from 1400 to 1700. The afternoon ban on drinking was on the books long before Covid-19.

Fully vaccinated Filipinos flying to Brunei are only required to present their proof of vaccination, along with an e-health arrival declaration form which they must fill out not more than 24 hours before departure. Travel Medical Insurance with Covid-19 cover (minimum coverage of BND 20,000) must also be presented at the check-in counter.

LONDON, 28 June 2022: Demand for overseas homes for investment or as a permanent residence in Laguna Phuket has soared, with property sales reaching a record high of THB1.35 billion (GBP30 million) in the first quarter of 2022, compared with just THB250 million (GBP6 million) during the same period last year.
Relocating to seek new business possibilities, personal growth or a new horizon for young families or early retirees are the factors driving consumer interest in destinations such as Phuket in Thailand.
Angsana Oceanview Residences (top right) are located within the Laguna Phuket integrated destination.
Laguna Phuket is a 1,000-acre community built on old tin mining land over 30 years ago by the visionary founder of Banyan Tree Holdings, KP Ho. He bought the land, cleared it and filled in the craters where tin was mined to create a series of stunning natural lagoons.
Over the years the destination has morphed into an elegant enclave of hospitality and residences, where a total of seven hotels are located, surrounded by lagoons, three miles of beachfront, cycling paths, the new wellness concept The Veya by Banyan Tree, boutique shops, restaurants and beach clubs – even a recent floating bar addition “The Atoll” in the middle of one of the lagoons – and an 18-hole golf course. The area surrounding Laguna Phuket, Cherng Talay, has blossomed as a result – with freestanding restaurants, gourmet supermarkets, specialist wine outlets and a host of other fitness and arts activities.
“Creating an integrated community has always been at the heart of our brand DNA since our founding in 1983,” says Laguna Resorts & Hotels. Deputy CEO Stuart Reading. “Our transformation from a former tin mine into the resort destination has been quite a journey. Now, we are giving our international clientele the opportunity to transform their lives. We are seeing increased demand from buyers who are looking for both primary and secondary homes in a relaxing setting where they can enjoy a premium lifestyle and complete peace of mind, supported by leading brands, spectacular scenery, and there’s, of course, the beach with Bangtao Bay a sublime backdrop.”
Laguna Phuket recently unveiled the Angsana Oceanview Residences, a low-rise collection of apartments overlooking the Andaman Sea. Each unit features two bedrooms and stylish living areas opening out onto a private alfresco deck and infinity pool. With high-spec interiors blessed with natural light, panoramic views and fully connected with the latest technology, these residences are designed to be a great place to stay, play and be productive in paradise.
Managed by Banyan Tree Group, Angsana Oceanview Residences benefit from the five-star facilities of Angsana Laguna Phuket and can be enjoyed throughout the year or added to the rental pool to rent if residents choose not to stay there.
Laguna Resorts & Hotels is one of Thailand’s largest SET-listed resort and residence developers, accounting for over 40 per cent of properties on the island’s central west coast, ranging from affordable condominiums from THB5 million (GBP120,000) to luxury homes and villas worth THB100 million (GBP2.4 million) and more. This creates outstanding options for overseas buyers seeking a strategic investment, a second home or a new life in the sun.
Angsana Oceanview Residences form part of an exclusive portfolio of properties by Banyan Tree Group, which has won 20 awards, including six prestigious International Property Awards, for its Laguna Phuket properties in the last three years villas, condos and private residences across a range of segments. The enduring appeal of Thailand’s warm hospitality and the Banyan Tree brand make Angsana Oceanview Residences a compelling choice for all potential investors, including couples, families and retirees.

SYDNEY, 27 June 2022: Qantas will significantly boost its international network from Perth, with flights to Jakarta and Johannesburg set to take off later this year.
The routes are the latest of eight new international services the national carrier has announced since Australia’s international borders reopened in November 2021.
Both routes are being supported by the Western Australian Government’s Reconnect WA package, and Qantas will work with Tourism Western Australia to boost inbound tourism from both South Africa and Indonesia to Perth and destinations in Western Australia.
Johannesburg
From 1 November, Qantas will operate the only direct service from Perth to South Africa, operating three return flights per week on its Airbus A330 aircraft.
The flights will cut more than six hours from the fastest current travel time, with customers heading to Johannesburg from Perth currently having to fly on Qantas via Sydney or via the Middle East.
With a large South African community in Perth, the flights are expected to be popular with people visiting family and friends and business and leisure travellers. The route will also offer convenient one-stop connections for people travelling to and from other Australian cities.
Qantas’ existing four flights per week from Sydney to Johannesburg on its Boeing 787 aircraft have had strong bookings since they recommenced in January this year and will increase to daily from 30 October.
Jakarta
From 30 November, Qantas flights will reconnect Perth with Jakarta for the first time since borders closed in March 2020, beginning with three flights per week on its Boeing 737 aircraft.
It is the first time that Qantas has operated the route, which will support the growing trade and tourism links between Australia and Indonesia.
The route is also expected to be popular with travellers connecting to other major Indonesian cities such as Surabaya and Medan.
“Western Australia has become an increasingly important part of our international network and we’re really excited to be launching two more routes from Perth,” Joyce said.
“International travel demand continues to rebound as people make up for two years of closed borders. Our direct flights from Perth to London and Rome are selling really strongly, which gives us the confidence to add new routes from our western hub.
“Indonesia is a rapidly growing economy home to more than 270 million people, and these new flights will open up more trade and investment opportunities and a new gateway for travellers looking to explore Indonesia.”
The addition of Johannesburg and Jakarta will mean Qantas will operate international flights from Perth to five destinations, including London, Rome, and Singapore.
Fares for Perth-Johannesburg flights go on sale today starting from AUD1800 return. Fares for Perth-Jakarta go on sale today from AUD870 return.
Since borders have reopened, Qantas has now announced eight new international routes, including Perth to Rome, Darwin to Dili, Sydney to Seoul and Bengaluru, and Melbourne to Delhi and Dallas.
Flights are subject to government and regulatory approval.
SINGAPORE, 27 June 27, 2022: With the start of summer, scooping up one of Italy’s most famous desserts from Gelato onboard Discovery Princess, Enchanted Princess and Sky Princess just got a little sweeter.
The Princess Cruises gelato shops have been designated as Ospitalità Italiana, and are the first and only locations to offer an authentic Italian gelato experience outside of Italy.
The prestigious Ospitalità Italiana designation is issued by the Italian Chamber of Commerce committee, an organization of the Italian government. It confirms that every step of the gelato-making process meets or exceeds a strict set of standards as approved by official Italian auditors and experts, who review the process yearly. Only gelato shops that attain outstanding quality status are awarded the official Ospitalità Italiana certification.
Princess Cruises handcrafts its fresh Gelato with Italian-certified ingredients and equipment daily in the pastry kitchens onboard the cruise line’s three newest ships – Discovery Princess, Enchanted Princess and Sky Princess. Corporate pastry chef Eric Le Rouzic trained with the best Italian chefs at the Gelato Carpigiani University in Bologna and the Gelato Comprital Atheneum in Milano to master the art of making this heaven in a bowl. Princess uses top-of-line gelato machines by renowned manufacturer Carpigiani and the Gelato display cases were produced in Italy by expert craftsmen.
“The ‘Ospitalità Italiana’ is a tremendous extension of our Italian heritage and allows us to immerse our guests into the unique Italian culture found throughout Italy in our very own piazza,” said John Padgett, Princess Cruises president. “The designation also recognizes the incredible dedication of our pastry chefs and their passion for offering truly authentic experiences and the very best ingredients to our guests.”
Fun Fact – Gelato Isn’t Ice Cream
According to legend, the recipe for Gelato was popularized when architect Bernardo Buontalenti was asked to create a special confection for a member of the Medici noble family in the 16th century. Buontalenti mixed milk, eggs, sugar and extracts in a special machine surrounded by ice and salt, and egg cream-based gelato was born.
While it’s creamy, Gelato has less butterfat and fewer calories. The authentic Italian ingredients are combined with Princess’ freshly sourced fruit and are made each day with milk, not requiring the extra fat from cream that is needed in ice cream for longer shelf life. As a result, a scoop of Gelato is 80-100 calories, and the sorbet or “fruit gelato” has no fat and is only 50-60 calories, with no dairy.
Princess guests can choose from a variety of flavours – favourites like fior di latte (vanilla) and cioccolato (chocolate), to tiramisu, Nutella and caramello salato (salted caramel). The menu even offers dairy-free, fat-free sorbets and sugar-free Gelato. Guests can enjoy them by themselves, with toppings or in such tasty combinations as “affogato” (with liqueur) or “coppe,” including indulgent creations like nutellone (Nutella gelato, Nutella and whipped cream) or amaretto and peaches (amaretto gelato, fresh sliced peaches and meringue drops).
