Princess: Five years cruising Asia

SINGAPORE, 29 September 2017:  Princess Cruises reports it will homeport in Singapore for a fifth consecutive season (2018-19) with the deployment of Sapphire Princess and her twin sister ship Diamond Princess.

This will be the first time that Princess Cruises will have two ships based at Marina Bay Cruise Centre to meet increasing demand for both short and long-haul cruises from Singapore.

For the upcoming 2017-18 season in Singapore, Sapphire Princess will  offer three to 13-night sailings in Southeast Asia, bringing over 40,000 international guests to the region from November to March 2018. Read more

Cruises in Asia surface at ITB Asia

SINGAPORE, 26 September 2017: Norwegian Cruise Lines is strengthening its cruises promotions in Asia following the recent launch of its first purpose-built ship designed especially for Asian travellers.

The company will be represented on a high profile panel during ITB Asia that will discuss and highlight the expansion of the cruise market in Asia,

Pandaw launches second Mekong boat

BANGKOK, 18 September 2017: A new double-deck river boat, RV Sabei Pandaw, will set sail shortly on the Mekong River offering trips through Laos to Yunnan province in China.

The 45-metre vessel has been specially designed to navigate the shallow waters of the Mekong River and the navigational challenges of narrow gorges strewn with massive boulders.

Its owner, Pandaw River Expeditions claims the shallow draft will enable it to offer year-round cruises to and from Yunnan China passing through Laos. Read more

Singapore’s cruise centre promotes islands

SINGAPAORE, 13 September 2017 – Singapore Cruise Centre and PT Nongsa Terminal Bahari (NTB) have entered into a marketing collaboration agreement to promote tourism to Batam and Riau Islands.

Under the agreement, SCC and NTB will jointly work on marketing and promotional activities to increase tourism to three islands.

They will pursue goals to achieve sustainable and continual growth in passenger traffic at NTB’s Nongsapura Ferry Terminal to draw more visitors to Nongsa, Batam and the Riau Islands. Read more

Traveltek opens shop in Hong Kong

HONG KONG, 7 September, 2017: UK-based Traveltek Group has made its debut in North Asia, opening an office in Hong Kong to sell its dynamic packaging and cruise booking technology.

Asia’s cruise industry is growing rapidly, with passenger numbers from the region rocketing 40% from 774,536 in 2012 to 2.08 million in 2015, according to Cruise Lines International Association figures.

China was the biggest source market by far, accounting for 47.4% of total passenger volume. Read more

Carnival picks up ASTA award

SAN DIEGO, 31 August 2017: Carnival Corporation  was honored by the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) with the 2017 ASTA Supplier Partner of the Year Award for its commitment to travel agents.

ASTA’s president and CEO, Zane Kerby, presented the cruise-line company with the award at the ASTA Global Convention 2017 in San Diego following a keynote address by Carnival Corporation president and CEO, Arnold Donald, during which he highlighted the key role of travel agents in growing demand for cruise vacations in North America.
