Bhaya names GM for Halong cruises

HANOI, 23 November 2017: Bhaya Group, an overnight cruise operator in the Halong Bay, northern Vietnam, has named Andrej Stein as its general manager.

He takes over the cruise operations with immediate effect.

In this role, he will be responsible for managing the group’s 19 cruise vessels that are home-based at Halong Bay. Read more

Genting Dream makes Singapore home

SINGAPORE, 22 November 2017: Mega cruise ship, Genting Dream, departed on its first cruise of Southeast Asia from its home-base in Singapore last weekend.

Genting Cruise Lines’ decision to make Singapore the home-port will boost Singapore’s ambitions to become the cruise hub of ASEAN, the Straits Times said in report following a press conference after the 18-deck cruise ship docked.

Singapore Tourist Board tweeted the Straits Times report to a worldwide audience and media adding: “Tripartite partnership between STB, @ChangiAirport & Genting Cruise Lines is estimated to bring in 600,000 visitors and more than SGD250 million in tourism receipts.” Read more

Seven Seas opts for Splendor

SINGAPORE, 21 November 2017: Regent Seven Seas Cruises, named its newest ship, scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2020, ‘Seven Seas Splendor’.

The second Explorer-class ship follows in the tradition of its sister-ship, Seven Seas Explorer, launched in 2016, credited with raising the luxury benchmark.

The company said an extraordinary demand for the first luxury ship (Explorer) led to the decision  to expand and upgrade the fleet. Read more

Cruise line expands sales network

TOKYO, 14 November 2017: Hurtigruten, a specialist in exploration cruises, is expanding its sales presence in Japan by appointing a second agency.

It has appointed International Cruise Marketing (ICM) as its second preferred sales agent selling its Arctic and Antarctic explorer products in Japan.

The other already established PSA, Tumlare, will continue to sell the cruise line’s coastal Norway products in Japan. Read more

Seven Seas luxury arrives in Asia

SINGAPORE, 2 November 2017: Seven Seas Voyager, considered one of the most luxurious cruise ships in the world, arrives in Singapore, 5 December, for a series of sailings in Southeast Asia.

During the initial cruise port of calls include Thailand, Vietnam Hong Kong and Shanghai and Beijing in China.

Princess: Five years cruising Asia

SINGAPORE, 29 September 2017:  Princess Cruises reports it will homeport in Singapore for a fifth consecutive season (2018-19) with the deployment of Sapphire Princess and her twin sister ship Diamond Princess.

This will be the first time that Princess Cruises will have two ships based at Marina Bay Cruise Centre to meet increasing demand for both short and long-haul cruises from Singapore.

For the upcoming 2017-18 season in Singapore, Sapphire Princess will  offer three to 13-night sailings in Southeast Asia, bringing over 40,000 international guests to the region from November to March 2018. Read more

Pandaw launches second Mekong boat

BANGKOK, 18 September 2017: A new double-deck river boat, RV Sabei Pandaw, will set sail shortly on the Mekong River offering trips through Laos to Yunnan province in China.

The 45-metre vessel has been specially designed to navigate the shallow waters of the Mekong River and the navigational challenges of narrow gorges strewn with massive boulders.

Its owner, Pandaw River Expeditions claims the shallow draft will enable it to offer year-round cruises to and from Yunnan China passing through Laos. Read more

Singapore’s cruise centre promotes islands

SINGAPAORE, 13 September 2017 – Singapore Cruise Centre and PT Nongsa Terminal Bahari (NTB) have entered into a marketing collaboration agreement to promote tourism to Batam and Riau Islands.

Under the agreement, SCC and NTB will jointly work on marketing and promotional activities to increase tourism to three islands.

They will pursue goals to achieve sustainable and continual growth in passenger traffic at NTB’s Nongsapura Ferry Terminal to draw more visitors to Nongsa, Batam and the Riau Islands. Read more
