CLMV minsters create blueprint

HO CHI MINH CITY, 11 September 2017: Four Mekong Region countries, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam attracted 22 million visits, last year, leaders of the CLMV tourism group reported on the sidelines of the International Travel Expo last Friday.

They were attending the 4th Meeting of Cambodia – Laos – Myanmar- Vietnam (CLMV) Tourism Ministers, held during ITE Ho Chi Minh City and concluded tourism was major driver for their economies.

Seamless ASEAN travel by 2020?

NAY PYI TAW, 27 January 2015: ASEAN’s  promised seamless travel is not just around the corner, Philippines’ secretary tourism, Ramon Jimenez, told the opening press conference at the ASEAN Tourism Forum, Monday.

He was responding to a question from TTR Weekly on news reports from Davos, Switzerland, over the weekend, that suggested ASEAN’s era of seamless travel would not start until 2020.

“Five years is not al long time,” he told a packed press conference at the capital’s convention centre. “Does tourism need to move so fast?”

Safety gains an airing at ATF

NAY PYI TAW, 27 January 2015: ASEAN’s tourism ministers signed off on the launch of the ASEAN Tourism Security & Safety Guidelines during their two days of meetings during the ASEAN Tourism Forum.

The project includes an online resource centre website (www.aseantssrc.org), which contains guidelines, best practices and background papers on tourism related security and safety practices in ASEAN member states.
