Egypt touts revolutionary attraction
BERLIN, 10 March 2011 – Beaches, ancient sites, guaranteed sun – and a tang of revolution in the air: Egypt and Tunisia are banking on their recent unrest to pull back the tourists that deserted them as the turmoil raged.
Egypt has trebled its presence this year at the world’s biggest tourism fair, ITB Berlin, with pharaonic busts alongside mock-ups of Tahrir Square, the epicentre of the revolution that toppled President Hosni Mubarak last month.
The slogan at the stand: “Come and see the place it all happened.”
ITB Berlin opens on positive note
BERLIN, 10 March 2011 – ITB Berlin opened Wednesday with the organisers estimating that over 11,000 companies from 180 countries were participating at the world’s largest travel show.

In the preamble to the opening, officials said the event generated some Euro 60 billion euros (approximately US$84 billion) worth of business transactions during the four-day event, last year.
