Qatar Air tops AirHelp ranking

NEW YORK, 17 November 2016: Based on AirHelp’s annual rankings of airlines, worldwide, Qatar Airways has been named Best Airline in the World.

Qatar Airways gained the number one spot over 77 other airlines ranked by AirHelp internationally based on feedback from worldwide travellers who use AirHelp.

Thai airline compete on Kolkata route

BANGKOK, 31 October 2016: Thai AirAsia will operate direct flight services from Bangkok (DMK) to Kolkata in India, effective 16 December.

According to the airline, the Indian outbound travel market is growing fast and Koltaka the largest city after Mumbai has strong trading links with Thailand’s Indian community. Visiting friends and relatives traffic prospers.

Thai AirAsia already flies to three Indian destinations: Chennai (five flights weekly), Bengaluru (five flights weekly) and Kochi (daily).   Read more

Low-cost flights battle for Atlantic

NEW YORK, 31 October 2016: Low-cost air carriers are spreading their wings across the Atlantic, much to the chagrin of the major airlines now forced to serve new destinations and cut fares.

Transatlantic flights operated by Norwegian Air, Iceland’s Wow air, Canada’s WestJet and Morocco’s Royal Air Maroc have multiplied in recent years, as jet fuel prices fall.

Frequently offering fares less than half that of major airlines, low-cost carriers have quickly attracted travellers. Read more

Istanbul airport closed

BANGKOK, 16 July 2016:  Travel advisories issued, worldwide,  warn the security situation in Turkey remains tense.

Ataturk international airport in Istanbul is closed to inbound and outbound flights.  All Turkish Airlines flights have stopped.

Travellers are advised to contact their airline, or travel agent, for information about changing travel arrangements, including connecting flights or seeking  a refund for flights that have been cancelled.

Travellers who are currently in Istanbul   are warned to  stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. Avoid any large gatherings or demonstrations. Follow the directions of local authorities.

Travellers are warned to exercise a high degree of caution while visiting tourists destination throughout Turkey and to reconsider their need to travel to Istanbul and Ankara. 

Nok adds fly ride option

BANGKOK, 24 April 2015: Nok Air will launch a daily Fly ‘n’ Ride service, starting 6 May, from Bangkok to Sawang Daen Din via its daily Sakon Nakhon flight that will offer passengers a connecting bus service.

The upcoming service will make travel to Sawang Daen Din more convenient. The town is in the western part of Sakon Nakhon province, northeast Thailand.

Neighboring districts are (from the north clockwise) Charoen Sin, Wanon Niwat, Phang Khon, Waritchaphum, Song Dao of Sakon Nakhon province, Chai Wan, Nong Han, Thung Fon and Ban Dung of Udon Thani province.

Qantas food flies faster

BANGKOK, 10 April 2015: Qantas has upgraded its inflight service on flights out of Bangkok claiming it will offer a wider choice of meals, bigger servings and faster delivery.

Qantas International head of customer experience & creative development, Kylie Morris, said it will set a new experience for 5 million economy class customers travelling across the airline’s international network each year.

Airlines slash fares at TITF

BANGKOK, 26 February 2015: Airlines are cutting fares by around 20% during the 16th Thai International Travel Fair at Queen Sirikit Convention Centre that closes this Sunday.

Nok Air sells a one-way fare, inclusive of airport taxes and surcharges, departing Bangkok at THB850 to Phitsanulok, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchathani, Khon Kaen, Sakon Nakhon, and Surat Thani.

A THB950 fare is on offer to Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lampang, Nan, Roi Et, Loei, Nakhon Phanom, Krabi, Hat Yai, Phuket, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Trang.

Wi-Fi on VN flights

HANOI, 28 January 2015: The national carrier, Vietnam Airlines, plans to offer inflight Wi-Fi for both international and domestic routes this May.

Vietnam Airlines CEO, Pham Ngoc Minh, told local media that passengers on international and domestic flights will be able to access inflight internet this May.

“The high-speed Wi-Fi service will be offered on 30 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and Airbus A350s, before being introduced on a wider scale.” Read more
