Phoenix Voyages Group sales and management teams came from the group’s offices in Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Korea.

On camera at pub street

SIEM REAP, 27 July 2017: Siem Reap provincial government wants to install more CCTV security cameras along a popular tourist pub street in an effort to tighten safety and security for visitors.

Khmer Times reported the scheme was supported financially by MineBea, a private Japanese company.

The street is packed with tourists in the evening visiting restaurants and pubs, but there has been an increase in petty crime that worries authorities. A study of the street showed at least another 30 cameras were required to cover the area adequately. Read more

Cambodia chasing MICE

PHNOM PENH, 17 July 2017: Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism has called on officials and stakeholders in the tourism business to focus more on meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions popularly known in the trade as MICE.

Agence Kampuchea Presse quoted Tourism Minister, Thong Khon, saying MICE business attracts high-spend tourists, while the events they attend offer added value in terms sharing expertise and new ideas.

Developing MICE is now a priority for the country’s tourism business, he said. Read more

SIEM REAP, 23 May 2017: The inaugural Cambodia Travel Mart 2017 will be held in Siem Reap through a joint venture with Singapore-based TTG Asia Media& Events.

Dates have been set for 17 to 19 November at Sokha Siem Reap Resort and Convention Centre, Siem Reap, Cambodia.

The travel trade mart calendar is overcrowded in ASEAN with organisers finding it increasingly difficult to find a free week to host an event. Read more

Siem Reap move ahead on second airport

SIEM REAP, 3 February 2017: Plans to build a new airport in Siem Reap that will be funded and operated by a Chinese company are almost finalised.

Last October, the Cambodian government reached an agreement with China’s state-run Yunnan Investment Holdings Ltd (YIHL) to build a USD880 million airport in Siem Reap.

Phnom Penh Post reported that the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation has assigned a team to provide technical and regulatory oversight for the construction of YIHL’s greenfield airport. Read more
