BANGKOK, 29 October 2018 – Philippine Airlines has entered a codeshare agreement with Thailand’s Bangkok Airways.
The codeshare agreement will encourage Philippine residents to travel beyond the Bangkok gateway using connecting flights on Bangkok Airways.
PAL will be able to market flights through its network that feature flights from Manila to Thailand destinations served by Bangkok Airways on a single ticket.
It will involve a change of plane from PAL to Bangkok Airways at the Bangkok hub.
The codeshare agreement kicked in 28 October allowing PAL passengers to buy a through ticket to Chiang Mai with PAL using a Bangkok’s Airways domestic service to the northern Thailand tourist city.
Bangkok Airways passengers in Thailand will be able to book flights to Manila and beyond using the codeshare service of Philippine Airlines, but ticketed under Bangkok Airways.
But the main market will be PAL passengers visiting Thailand’s tourist resorts, who can now transfer seamlessly to Bangkok Airways domestic flights, check-through their baggage and receive their boarding passes at the start of the trip from Manila for both the international PAL flight and the domestic segment on Bangkok Airways.
PAL is now Bangkok Airways 15th codeshare partner and its fifth in Southeast Asia.
