AirAsia drops Bali-Tokyo flight

-

DENPASAR, 30 October 2018: Poor advance booking has forced Indonesia AirAsia X to end its daily service to Tokyo effective January 2019.

There were high hopes that the daily Denpasar-Tokyo Narita service would attract Japanese millennials and tap Bali’s popularity with honeymoon travellers.

Using an Airbus A330-300 aircraft, the last departure from Denpasar will be on 14 January 2019 according to Airlineroute timetable information.

The low-cost airline started the nonstop from Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar, Bali, to the Narita International Airport in Tokyo in May 2017, first with four flights weekly that were later increased to daily, mainly to tap the Japanese outbound market, which is the third largest for Bali’s tourism.

Fares were introduced as low as USD89 in economy class.
