Rainforest music fest tops target

-

KUCHING, 3 August 2018: Attendance at the 21st Rainforest World Music Festival a three-day event held below rainforest cover at the Damai coastal venue surpassed the organiser’s target.

According to Sarawak’s latest edition of its Hornbill Trail Newsletter, organisers confirmed a gate attendance of 21,668 visitors topping the targeted 20,000.

Surpassing the target is a major milestone for the event, which has over the last few years maintained attendance at around 18,000.

This three-day festival attracted travellers from all walks of life and countries of origin, who participated in concerts and mini sessions, parades and surprise performances, plus the evening signature performances by international world music performers on the venue’s two main stages.

During the day the venue offered wellness activities and lifestyle workshops, in-depth traditional instrument tutorials, cultural snippets and film screenings as well as children’s sessions, all surrounded by the cultural houses, food and crafts of the Sarawak people.

Another attraction factor was the expansion of the festival grounds to include Damai Central, where two additional stage areas were situated, for even more activities and performances.

For 2019, the festival will be held from 12 to 14 July at the Sarawak Cultural Village.
