Ban plastic bottles on your travels

PHNOM PENH, 15 August 2017: Journeys Within, a US-based tour company, has introduced a video illustrating a day in the life of a reusable water bottle in the hands of a traveller visiting Siem Reap, Cambodia.

It illustrates the ‘Refill Not Landfill’ campaign, which aims to cut down on millions of single-use plastic water bottles discarded in Cambodia annually.

Tour companies are encouraged to offer reusable aluminium bottles and refill stations as an alternative. Read more

Time out for a Thai Songkran

BANGKOK, 12 April 2017: Thailand will celebrate the annual Songkran Festival, Thursday 13 April through to 15 April, plus a substitution holiday for workers, Monday 17 April, due to the final day of the Songkran festival falling on a Saturday.

The festive celebration will start with families paying respects to their elders by sprinkling water on their hands Thursday morning.

However, thousands of tourists are visiting Thailand to enjoy the water battles that follow on the remaining days. Festivities take place in every village and town once the traditional ceremonies are over. Read more

Water wins ONYX recognition

BANGKOK, 26 November 2015: Three of ONYX Hospitality Group’s hotels in Thailand were among 11 hotels honoured nation-wide with the prestigious Kuoni Water Champion Award.

ONYX was the only group to have hotels in three different destinations gaining recognition, which validates each property’s commitment towards tracking water use managing water supplies efficiently and raising guest awareness on sustainability.

Thainess flows through a Water Festival

BANGKOK, 25 March, 2015: A more traditional way to celebrate Songkhran this year is being promoted the Ministry of Culture, the Tourism Authority of Thailand and private sector partner Thai Beverage Public Company Limited

Songkhran is celebrated, 13 to 15 April, nationwide, but the “Water Festival 2015” will focus on activities at four temples in Bangkok; Wat Pho, Wat Arun, Wat Kalayanamitr and Wat Prayunwongsawat.

According TAT’s deputy governor for marketing communications, Sugree Sithivanich, participants will be able to experience community life and cultural heritage while dining at famous restaurants at Maharaj Pier and visiting one of the biggest flower markets in Asia.
