BANGKOK, 4 December 2017: Qantas is offering special fares to Australia and New Zealand for economy and business travellers resident in Thailand until 15 December.

Qantas quotes the roundtrip deals inclusive of tax and surcharges.

The economy class fares lead off with a roundtrip fare to Perth with a change of plane in Singapore at THB16,645. Read more

Qantas takes deliver of a Dreamliner

BANGKOK, 18 October 2017: Qantas has unveiled its first Boeing Dreamliner, that will be used to open new routes.

The new 787-9 Dreamliner features the latest in seating across all classes with the airline claiming it offers more space and a lower passenger count than most of its competitors today.

At a ceremony at the Boeing factory in Seattle, Qantas Group CEO, Alan Joyce, said the first Dreamliner signalled the start of an exciting new era for the national carrier and for the travelling public. Read more

Qantas flags ultra long-haul flights

SYDNEY, 28 August 2017: Australia’s Qantas unveiled plans for the world’s longest non-stop commercial flight, last Friday, calling it the “last frontier of global aviation”, as it posted healthy annual net profits on the back of a strong domestic market.

The firm, which hopes to fly non-stop from Australia to London and New York by 2022, announced a 17.2% slip in annual net profit to AUD852 million (USD673 million) after record results last year.

The airline’s underlying profit before tax — its preferred measure — was the second-highest in its history at AUD1.4 billion for the year to June 30, matching forecasts. Read more

SINGAPORE, 22 August 2017: Qantas has teamed up with Destination New South Wales to launch “Meet the Sydneyporeans”, a three-part video mini-series featuring Singaporeans living in Sydney and its suburbs.

The series, due to launch today, will introduce New South Wales through the eyes of the featured Singaporeans, to inspire Singaporeans to travel to Australia.

Qantas sells fares nonstop hop

SYDNEY, 28 April 2017: Australians can now book nonstop flights  from Australia to Europe for the first time, with tickets for Qantas’ Perth-London (Heathrow) route.

Sales opened on the new route Thursday.

Daily flights on the history-making route begin 24 March 2018 and form part of a new Melbourne-Perth-London return service.  The services will be operated by Qantas’ new Boeing 787-Dreamliner. Read more

Shaky stick gives Qantas flight a scare

SYDNEY, 18 April 2017: Fifteen passengers were hurt after a Qantas plane’s alert system warned of an imminent stall as it approached Hong Kong, Australian transport safety officials said, Thursday, as they launched an investigation.

Flight QF29 from Melbourne to Hong Kong was about 100 kilometres (60 miles) from its destination, last Friday, when a “stick shaker” alert occurred.

The warning causes the control stick to shake noisily, informing pilots that the plane is about to stall. Read more

Low fares hurt Qantas

SYDNEY, 24 February 2017: Australian carrier Qantas Airways posted Thursday a 7.5% hit to first-half earnings, impacted by lower fares, greater competition and empty seats.

Underlying profit before tax fell to AUD852 million (USD656 million) for the six months ending 31 December, but just beat the airline’s own guidance.

This compares to AUD921 million in the same period of 2015. Read more

Qantas flies to Beijing

SYDNEY, 26 January 2017: Qantas’ new flights to Beijing took off, Wednesday, just days before Chinese New Year starts.

Beijing is Qantas’ third destination in Greater China, joining Shanghai and Hong Kong. The new service gives the capital’s 21 million residents a direct gateway to Australia, representing a strong business opportunity for the Australian tourism industry and Australian companies doing business in China under the free trade agreement.

Inbound flights on the new route are timed to connect with Qantas’ domestic network to popular onward destinations such as Melbourne, Brisbane and Hobart, as well as the airline’s New Zealand services to Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown. Read more

Qantas creates dream seats

SYDNEY, 31 October 2016: Qantas newest 787-9 Dreamliner due to arrive in a year’s time will feature the next generation of its Business Suite.

The Qantas Dreamliner will seat 236 passengers across business, premium economy and economy cabins in a layout that the airline says will maximise comfort for the long-distance traveller.

A hallmark feature of the new aircraft will be the Business Suite, the next generation of a seat recently installed on Qantas’ Airbus A330 fleet. Read more

QF buys back shares

SYDNEY, 15 June 2016: Qantas Group announced, Tuesday, the completion of an AUD500 million share buy-back.

The buy-back was identified in the airline’s half year results published February 2016.

Since early March, Qantas has purchased 143,599,336 shares for a weighted average price of AUD3.4819. Read more
