CHIANG RAI, THAILAND, 3 July 2012: Knowledge Media Group Thailand has announced the launch of a new business unit called “China Hotel Marketing” (CHM), offering China marketing services to small independently owned boutique hotels in the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS).
The initiative will also include offering services to SME hotels and resorts in ASEAN countries that lack professional promotion and marketing resources.
Services offered according to the group’s announcement include “positioning and branding, engineering creative strategic sales and marketing plans, marketing research, performing and fulfilling the professional role of public relations, marketing and communications.”

BANGKOK, 11 June 2012: Tourism Authority of Thailand recognised 88 persons for their support of Thailand tourism during the Thailand Tourism Festival 2012, 8 June.
Presiding over the award ceremony, TAT governor, Suraphon Svetasreni said: “The awards honour people who have contributed tourism or created tour programmes and introduced higher standards to the industry.”

BANGKOK, 10 May 2012: Three people appointments were announced earlier this week one in a hotel industry and two inThailand’s travel agency sector.
Kata Group Resorts named Glen Rodil Ferrer as the general manager of its soon-to-opened hotel, Beyond Resort Krabi.
Khiri Travel Group filled two management positons; Andre van der Marck as general manager Thailand and Mark Remijan as chief financial officer and company partner for the group.
TCEB president quits

BANGKOK, 9 March 2012: Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau president, Akapol Sorasuchart, announced his resignation on Tuesday saying he was leaving at the end of the month.
He sent his resignation letter to the TCEB’s board, 29 February, without giving a reason.
However, during his tenure of two years and five months, his struggled to preserve the agency’s independence in the face of political interference that was widely reported in local media. Read more

Over 32 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Keith Hardie has been with Starwood Hotels & Resorts for 18 years, Mr. Hardie returns to Thailand from being the General Manager of the Le Royal Meridien, Shanghai. Previously, he was General Manager of the Westin Grande Sukhumvit, Bangkok and General Manager of El Gezirah Sheraton Hotel, Towers & Casino Cairo, Egypt.
Prior to Mr. Hardie’s career with Starwood, he held management positions at InterContinental Muscat, Shangri-la’s Fijian Resort, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Manila and The London Marriott Hotel at Grosvenor Square.
Wood heads Thailand Skal

BANGKOK 2 March 2012: Thailand’s tourism is set for a bumper year. That’s the view of Andrew Wood, the newly-designated National President of Skal in Thailand. Skal is a global tourism industry organisation with almost 20,000 active members in 450 clubs across 85 countries worldwide.
Mr Wood, formerly general manager of the Chaophya Park hotel in Bangkok, is confident that the tourism and aviation in Thailand can bounce back from recent man-made and natural disasters.
“The signs are looking good, with encouraging numbers of business and leisure travellers opting for destinations in Thailand. She will be responsible for public relations for five hotels in Thailand. They are: Eastin Grand Hotel Sathorn Bangkok, Eastin Hotel Makksan Bangkok, Eastin Easy Siam Piman Bangkok, U Chiang Mai Hotel and U Inchantree Kanchanaburi Hotel.
Prior to joining Absolute Hotel Servies, she was assistant marketing communication manager – international at Centara Hotels and Resorts.
Travelport names corporate sales chief

SYDNEY, 8 February 2012: Travelport, an online distribution company for travel announced Tuesday the appointment of Nicolas Pierret as its senior director of corporate development for the Asia/Pacific.
Mr Pierret will be responsible for selling Travelport products to corporate travel users. He used to work for Carlson Wagonlit Travel in Singapore and Delhi overseeing global accounts. Read more
Amadeus beefs up hotel group
