A Los Angeles District Court postponed sentencing on the Gerald Green’s case claiming there was a lack of documentation from Thailand outlining how the bribes had damaged the country.
Yesterday’s postponement to a 11 March hearing surprised the prosecution, which was asking for the maximum penalty that would ensure the 78-year old Mr Green would spend the rest of his life in prison. It was the second postponement, the other being in mid-December.

Thai Airways International’s board of director appointed managing director, cargo and mail, Pruet Boobphakam, as the new executive vice president commercial, with immediate effect.
He replaces Pandit Chanapai, who was transferred to executive vice president human resources development and management.
The board announced the decision at the close of its 28 August meeting.

Asia director’s tenure with Pata ends during his attendance at World Eco-tourism conference.
Pacific Asia Travel Association axed its regional director Asia, Shahram Saber, yesterday evening, just hours after his presentation at the World Eco-Tourism Conference in Vientiane, Laos.
Mr Shahram was representing Pata at the event as a moderator and speaker. He was due to attend the association’s regional directors’ meeting in Bangkok that will open this Monday.

Pata executive committee reaffirms confidence in CEO despite snipes from down under.
Pacific Asia Travel Association’s executive committee is satisfied that there are no grounds to further probe allegations that CEO, Greg Duffell, misrepresented career details in his bio-data during the selection process.
He took over the top post last February.
A source in the executive committee confirmed the “matter is closed… There is nothing preventing the board members from questioning if they wish, but the committee will report its discussion and decision.”
