PTM travels to central Asia

-

BANGKOK, 7 November 2018: It’s official the Pacific Asia Travel Association will venue its first ever PATA event in central Asia in the Republic of Kazakhstan, September 2019.

Posting news on its Facebook page, PATA said the annual PATA Travel Mart would be hosted in Astana, Kazakhstan’s capital city in September, 2019.

The Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan confirmed it would host the event.

“We are excited to hold the first-ever PATA event in central Asia in the Republic of Kazakhstan. As the destination stands at the crossroads between Asia and Europe, it’s the perfect venue to organise the association’s signature travel trade exhibition in a uniquely transformational city that blends various cultures and heritages of both the East and West,” said PATA CEO Mario Hardy. “We look forward to working with the host in showcasing this truly unique destination.”

Kazakhstan is the heart of Eurasia, sitting between Europe and Asia and sharing borders with China, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and the Russian Federation. Due to its key strategic location, it is a strong supporter of the Belt and Road Initiative strategy adopted by the Chinese government.

According to the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), the country welcomed 7.7 million visitors in 2017.

PTM’s early bird rates for exhibitors are available until December 31, 2018. However, neither the Facebook post, nor the PATA website, identified specific rates or discounts that companies could enjoy when booking before the deadline. Usually venues, rates and dates are firmed up before the close of the previous show. PATA hosted a successful PTM in Langkawai, Malaysia, last September, but at the time no firm announcement was made on 2019 venue.

Having now confirmed the venue, potential sellers and PATA stalwart members who always support the event need to secure their early bird registration.

Companies interested in buying booth space, or registering as delegates, are directed to the PATA website where they need to fill out a form to confirm their interest.  Presumably, PATA responds by providing a rate sheet for various available booth sizes as well as delegate registration fees.
