Phuket to host regional yacht show

-

PHUKET, 29 November 2018: Organisers of the Thailand Yacht Show and RendeVous are promising a record turnout 10 to 13 January.

Hosted at the Royal Phuket Marina at least 50 yachts will berth for the show with more superyachts berthed at nearby Rang Noi island.

With around seven weeks to go to the opening 100 exhibitors are already confirmed for a packed schedule of business talks and networking among Asia’s tightly knit yachting community.

Aimed at a regional audience, the event is billed as a “competitively priced sourcing forum for trade buyers, retailers and importers from Southeast Asia and beyond.”

Hosted at Royal Phuket Marina, the show will welcome Sunseeker Manhattan 66 (see photo), which won the Motoryacht & Yachting Award for the best flybridge over 66ft earlier this year.

Also, Leopard Catamarans and leading broker Multihull Solutions will bring their latest models to the event.

On land, local chandlery retailers AME Marine will be selling equipment in the exhibition hall, joined by teak experts S.T.E.K. International and marine equipment innovators, Quick S.p.A.

Potential buyers will not only have the chance to view the region’s top sailboats and motoryachts, but will also discover the glamour of the yachting lifestyle, with wine tastings, dinners and parties, as well as sea-trials on some of the boats displayed.

Hosted during Phuket’s busy peak season show visitors will be able to enjoy improved hotel deals as the island is currently suffering from unseasonal declines in hotel bookings particularly from China.

Across all room categories, from luxury to budget, there are plenty of rooms available on the island throughout December and January, which was not evident in recent years.

Drops of around 20% in occupancy have been reported in classified hotels. At one of 128 luxury properties featured on Agoda, the daily rate for 10 to 13 January was cut from USD666 to USD120. At the well-known and pricy Treehouse Villas, the daily rate for the show week has dropped from USD908 to USD476.

Phuket is also one of most accessible holiday island for direct flights from Asian cities with competitive fares.

Created by the organisers of the Singapore Yacht Show, the Thailand Yacht Show & RendezVous, is hosted in partnership with the Thai government to showcase the potential for up-scale yachting activities in Thailand.

Launched in February 2016, the Thailand Yacht Show reinforced Thailand’s aspiration to become the principal destination for yachting in Asia, and the winter destination of choice for superyacht owners and charterers from around the world.

Following three editions of the Thailand Yacht Show, a partnership was inked with with Asia Rendezvous and the Phuket Yacht Show, two other shows that were hosted in Phuket. They have now joined forces to launch a rebranded Thailand Yacht Show and RendezVous 10 to 13 January 2019.

The 2019 show also replaces the 14-year old Phuket International Boat Show (PIMEX) that was held in the same location for the previous 10 years.
