Amadeus buys TravelClick

-

SINGAPORE, 14 August 2018: Amadeus will acquire TravelClick from Thoma Bravo, a private equity investment firm, for USD1.52 billion.

TravelClick, which is headquartered in New York, serves hospitality providers and has a customer base of 25,000 in 176 countries.

It provides cloud-based solutions that offer guest management and central reservations for independent and mid-size hotels.

It will extend Amadeus’ reach to hotels rather than just concentrating on solutions for travel agents.

“TravelClick has great technology and a broad customer base, and we are looking forward to welcoming such a successful business into Amadeus,” said Amadeus president and CEO Luis Maroto.

“Our ambition is to provide the hospitality industry with tools they need to grow their businesses and deliver a great experience to their guests.”

Amadeus claims to have made “strong progress with large chains”, while the TravelClick buy will open the door to the mid-chain and independent hotel segments in a move that will help the travel technology supplier reach out to the entire hotel industry with various solutions.

As part of the acquisition, approximately 1,100 TravelClick employees will join Amadeus.

Amadeus and Thoma Bravo expect to close the acquisition in the fourth quarter of this year, following regulatory approvals.  The transaction will be debt-financed and immediately earnings accretive.
