HANOI, 18 July 2018: Winners of the Vietnam Tourism Awards 2018 were honoured at a presentation hosted by the country’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism last week.
Also marking the 58th anniversary of Vietnam’s tourism sector, the event was presided over by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, according to a Vietnam National Administration of Tourism report.
Hosted since 1999, the awards honour leading enterprises that have made a significant contribution to tourism development, improved tourism service quality, diversified tourism products and strengthened Vietnam’s tourism.
Vietnam has enjoyed a positive growth in tourism over the last three years with international arrivals increasing by almost 30% per year.
In 2017, the country welcomed 12.9 million international tourists, rising 26.1% over 2016. During the first six months of this year arrivals reached 7.9 million, up 27.2% year-on-year.
Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Nguyen Ngoc Thien, emphasised the need to tap the potential of natural, cultural and human resources to attract international visitors.
Tourism awards were given to 15 five-star hotels, 15 four-star hotels, 10 inbound tour operators, 10 domestic tour operators, five tourist land transport companies, 10 restaurants, five tourist attractions, 10 golf courses, and five tourism investment groups.
