Dida moves Fliggy partnership up a notch

SHANGHAI, 15 November 2021: China’s DidaTravel – a leading hotel wholesaler – has secured a partnership with Fliggy, a travel service that forms part of the Alibaba ecosystem.

As part of the agreement, DidaTravel becomes the preferred accommodation partner for sourcing and distribution to Fliggy.

This means that DidaTravel’s 23,000 clients – including travel agencies, tour operators, airlines, OTAs and TMCs – now gain access to Fliggy’s portfolio of hundreds of thousands of hotels in both China and the wider APAC region.

DidaTravel founder and CEO  Rikin Wu commented: “Fliggy’s parent company Alibaba invested in us earlier this year… This allowed us to continue investing in our technology and building our presence in both Europe and North America – where we will make new announcements shortly.

“But it gives me even greater pleasure to now confirm that we have been chosen as Fliggy’s preferred B2B distribution and sourcing partner globally. This is fantastic news for our hotel and tourism product partners around the world, offering them access to Fliggy’s 320m users once the Chinese outbound market opens up in 2022.

“Equally, it is great news for Fliggy’s hotel and tourism product partners in China and the wider APAC region as they now gain access to our 23,000 clients around the world, allowing them to diversify revenue sources and gain incremental bookings from international travellers.”

This follows an announcement earlier in the year that DidaTravel had completed a series B financing worth hundreds of millions of yuan.

The lead investor in this round was Fliggy’s parent company Alibaba, and they were joined by Shenzhen Venture Capital and Guolong Capital, who had previously invested in the 2018 fundraising.

As part of the deal, DidaTravel remains an independent business and is investing in growing beyond its China and APAC base, with plans to build teams in both Europe and North America.
