There are strict rules and quarantine measures in place at intermediate destinations and also for travellers entering the UK that came into effect on 15 February. Travellers need to undergo a 14-quarantine period before being allowed to board a plane for the UK, and on arrival, they will need to self isolate or quarantine again.
All travellers arriving in the UK must self-isolate for 10 days and undergo two Covid-19 tests. There is also a red list for countries where citizens or residents are banned from entering the UK with the exception of UK citizens. They must comply with a 10-day hotel quarantine rule with hotel packages purchased in advance at around UKP1,750. Around 4,600 hotel rooms have been allocated to the scheme. The 10-day quarantine or self-isolation at home option both require two negative Covid-19 swab tests to be carried out in addition to the PCR test completed before departing on the flight to the UK.
