Shift to Istanbul’s new airport

-

ISTANBUL, 4 April 2019: The switch over to Istanbul Airport that officially opened last October will be completed by 6 April, when all airlines will operate from the new airport.

The new Istanbul Airport has been billed as one of the biggest gateway airports in the world with an annual 200 million-passenger capacity.

Istanbul, often considered the bridge between east and west, Europe and Asia throughout history, has been described as the new driving power for the Turkish economy and real estate sector.

Projections show that Istanbul Airport will employ approximately 225,000 people in 2025 with a USD4.2 billion household income contribution. This mega project will have approximately 4.9% share in GNP.

İstanbul Atatürk Airport will be closed to commercial passenger transportation once all the airlines have migrated to the new airport 6 April.
