Thailand tops up event incentives

-

BANGKOK, 26 February 2019: Thai Airways International and the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau launched a campaign, this week, to attract more event visitors from Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Singapore.

Tagged “ASEAN MaxiMICE” the campaign delivers privileges to encourage Southeast Asia-based MICE planners to host events in Thailand.

Privileges include a fast track service at airports called “MICE Lane”, meet-and-greet services, cultural performances, premium souvenirs, BTS Card for sky train travel, additional baggage allowance, pre-assigned group seating on flights, special on-board announcements and customised printed seat covers.

“ASEAN MaxiMICE” is open to groups of 40 persons or more arriving on THAI or Thai Smile flights and staying for at least two nights in Thailand.

The incentives are on offer until the end of August for travel completed by 31 October.

THAI’s regional director ASEAN, Siriphong Mangkalee, noted that THAI had launched a similar campaign in the past with TCEB.

“We have decided to collaborate with TCEB again and brain stormed the ‘MaxiMICE’ campaign for four ASEAN countries,” he said.

“Asia is currently the world’s fastest growing market for THAI, while the ASEAN market contributes to more than 50% of our overall revenue.”

Tourism from ASEAN’s four largest markets – Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Singapore – collectively grew 30% last year and accounts for 68% of all ASEAN MICE travellers to Thailand. These four markets are also among Thailand’s top 10 source markets for MICE in 2018.
