Vietjet reports healthy 2018

SINGAPORE, 29 January 2019 – Vietjet reports a 49% increase in air transport revenue and a passenger uplift of 23 million according to the airline business report for 2018.

The carrier recorded revenue before audit of VND52.4 trillion (USD2.26 billion), up 24% compared to last year with pre-tax profit standing at VND5.83 trillion (USD252 million).

Vietjet’s air transport revenue reached VND33.815 trillion (USD1.46 billion), a 49% year-on-year increase, reaching 112% of the business’ target.

Auxiliary products and services grew 57% over the same period and contributed nearly 27% to the total revenue in 2018, a 2% year increase from 2017.

In 2018, Vietjet operated 118,923 flights on 105 routes, including 39 domestic and 66 international routes, covering destinations such as Singapore, Vietnam, Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Cambodia, and China.

Related reporting showed Vietjet’s on-time performance came in at 84.2% and the technical reliability was 99.4%.

The airline’s fleet includes 64 aircraft with an average age of nearly three years. Last year also marked Vietjet operating the new-generation A321neo aircraft.
