BANGKOK, 4 June, 2018: NokScoot introduced its first Bangkok-Tokyo flight at the weekend setting the stage for the airline’s entry into the low-cost medium to long haul markets in North Asia.
The airline’s deputy CEO, Giam Ming Toh said the Narita service was a step forward to extend the airline’s footprint as a leading budget airline in Asia.
The inaugural flight, XW102, landed at Narita airport,1 June, with 415 passengers on board.
Commenting on the new flight Toh said: “Japan is an important addition to NokScoot’s network expansion, which has been focused on China along with Taiwan since its launch four years ago.”
Later this year the airline will launch flights to Osaka in Japan and Incheon in South Korea pending regulatory clearance.
Japanese travellers will be able to book through-travel starting with the new NokScoot service from Narita and connecting with Nok Air’s domestic network.
NokScoot, owned 49% by Singapore’s Scoot, serves the Bangkok-Narita route with Boeing 777-200 wide-bodied jet, configured with 415 seats — 24 in premium class and 391 in economy.
The airline is offering fares as low as THB 3,960 in economy one-way inclusive of taxes for the Bangkok-Narita flight for travel period up until 27 October, 2018.
