Sundown night race comes to Krabi

-

BANGKOK, 8 May 2018: A Sundown Marathon Thailand Series is in the pipeline due to launch 22 September at the southern beach resort of Krabi in Thailand.

The event is expected to attract over 4,000 Thai and international runners.

Other similar events will be organised by local partner, MICE and Communications, to support what it calls Thailand’s sports tourism policy.

Rut Jiroajvanichakorn, managing director of MICE & Communication.

Online registration for Sundown Marathon Krabi 2018 will open for the 12 and 21 km distance races Friday, 1 June at www.SundownThailand.com

MICE & Communication said it has signed off on a partnership with Sundown, the organiser of night running events in Asia, to organise the brand’s events in Thailand.

The first Sundown running event was organised in Singapore in 2008 and this year the  race reached out to 21,000 runners.

Sundown running series are also organised in China, Malaysia, the Philippines, Hong Kong and Taiwan and now Thailand.

The Thailand partner says other races under the Sundown brand will be organised elsewhere in the country.

Night time runs in Asia are popular as conditions are cooler and it is easier for towns to close certain routes late in the evening.

Sundown is the largest night running event organiser in Asia, with over 200,000 runners participating in its events across Asia.

MICE & Communication was founded in 2003 to support the events business in Thailand. It branched out to include sports events by  organising the Bangsaen 21 Half Marathon in 2015.

Since then, it has organised numerous races and was awarded Silver Award: Best Sport Event Organiser in Thailand at SPIA ASIA 2017 in November 2017.
