Emirates promotes early bird bookings

SINGAPORE, 15 November 2017 – Emirates says it is giving travellers a heads start on planning and grabbing the best fares and perks.

The airline offers pointers to finding a bargain such as early bird fares, travelling with a group, which is a cheaper option, and planning well ahead pays big dividends.

For a limited period, travellers can source special business class and economy class fares. Bookings should be made by 20 November for travel, 1 January and 30 June 2018. Read more

Emirates orders Dreamliners

Singapore, 14 November 2017 – Emirates, announced at the weekend it has made a USD15.1 billion (AED 55.4 billion) commitment for 40 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners.

The order signed during the 2017 Dubai Airshow.

Emirates is now evaluating engine options for its Dreamliner order. Aircraft deliveries will begin 2022. Read more

Emirates profits recover

DUBAI, 10 November 2017: Leading Middle East airline Emirates said Thursday its half year net profit rebounded strongly from a slump last year due to cost saving measures and favourable exchange rates.

The Dubai flag carrier said it posted a net profit of USD452 million in the period from April to September, up 111% on the same period last year.

That was more than the USD340 million net income for the whole of the last fiscal year to March 31. Read more

Emirates and flydubai expand partnership

DUBAI, 7 November 2017 –Emirates and flydubai introduced the second phase of their partnership, Tuesday, with 16 additional codeshare destinations.

The new, expanded network now includes destinations such as Zanzibar, Kathmandu and Kilimanjaro that are now single ticketed journeys for passengers of either airline.

Travellers can book the additional codeshare flights through Emirates.com effective 8 November. Read more

Emirates launches new first class

DUBAI, 7 November 2017: Emirates on Monday confirmed that its first two Boeing 777-300ER aircraft fitted with its soon-to-launch first class product will operate from Dubai to Belgian and Swiss destinations starting 1 December.

Emirates’ new first class cabin will feature six private suites laid out in a 1-1-1 layout, compared to the eight private suites in a 1-2-1 layout on its existing 777 fleet.

In addition to the entirely redesigned first class product, Emirates’ new Boeing 777-300ERs will also have ‘refreshed features’ in business and economy class cabins. Read more

Emirates and flydubai connects the dots

SINGAPORE 3 October 2017: Emirates announced, Monday, that it would expand its network to 29 flydubai destinations across three continents as part of a wider partner agreement between the two airlines.

The latest codeshares will offer easier access to more destinations with the advantage of connecting baggage to the final destination.

Passengers can now book travel through to these 29 destinations, commencing 29 October on Emirates.com, through the Emirates Contact Centres, or travel agents. It involves a change of plane to flydubai at the Dubai hub.  Read more

Emirates increases Stockholm flights

DUBAI, 27 September 2017: Emirates will introduce three additional flights per week to Stockholm, the Swedish capital, 8 December, that will complement Emirates’ existing daily services.

The new scheduled flights will be added to meet growing demand for travel on the route, particularly during the winter season.

After launching its current daily service in September 2013, the introduction of the three additional flights on Friday, Saturday and Sunday is in response to increased demand. Read more

Emirates to increase Sydney services

DUBAI, 13 September 2017: Emirates is set to introduce a fourth daily service from Dubai to Sydney, effective 25 March 2018, complementing its existing three daily A380 services.

The new service will use an A380 aircraft and will increase passenger capacity on the route by 6,846 seats a week, inbound and outbound between Sydney and Emirates’ hub in Dubai.

It represents a 7.3% increase in capacity for Emirates’ Australian services. Read more

Dress gets you jailed in UAE

SINGAPORE, 29 August 2017: The family of a Singaporean man jailed with a transgender friend in the United Arab Emirates for dressing in a “feminine” way called Friday for their release, as activists raced to raise funds for legal fees.

Fashion photographer, Muhammad Fadli bin Abdul Rahman, and transgender friend, Noor Vitriya Kistina Ibrahim, were arrested at a shopping mall in Abu Dhabi at the weekend and sentenced to a year in jail, according to relatives.

Fadli’s brother Saiful told AFP from Singapore that the pair were detained by the tourism police for “looking feminine”. Read more

Low fares for family groups

BANGKOK, 29 August 2017: Emirates is selling discounted fares for families and friends who fly from Bangkok to select destinations across Emirates’  global network.

The companion fare deals are valid for bookings for two to-nine passengers, but the deadline is fast approaching as the two-week offer closes 4 September.

The travel period is longer running from 5 September to 31 March, 2018. Read more
