Emirates and flydubai connects the dots

SINGAPORE 3 October 2017: Emirates announced, Monday, that it would expand its network to 29 flydubai destinations across three continents as part of a wider partner agreement between the two airlines.

The latest codeshares will offer easier access to more destinations with the advantage of connecting baggage to the final destination.

Passengers can now book travel through to these 29 destinations, commencing 29 October on Emirates.com, through the Emirates Contact Centres, or travel agents. It involves a change of plane to flydubai at the Dubai hub.  Read more

Emirates increases Stockholm flights

DUBAI, 27 September 2017: Emirates will introduce three additional flights per week to Stockholm, the Swedish capital, 8 December, that will complement Emirates’ existing daily services.

The new scheduled flights will be added to meet growing demand for travel on the route, particularly during the winter season.

After launching its current daily service in September 2013, the introduction of the three additional flights on Friday, Saturday and Sunday is in response to increased demand. Read more

Emirates to increase Sydney services

DUBAI, 13 September 2017: Emirates is set to introduce a fourth daily service from Dubai to Sydney, effective 25 March 2018, complementing its existing three daily A380 services.

The new service will use an A380 aircraft and will increase passenger capacity on the route by 6,846 seats a week, inbound and outbound between Sydney and Emirates’ hub in Dubai.

It represents a 7.3% increase in capacity for Emirates’ Australian services. Read more

Dress gets you jailed in UAE

SINGAPORE, 29 August 2017: The family of a Singaporean man jailed with a transgender friend in the United Arab Emirates for dressing in a “feminine” way called Friday for their release, as activists raced to raise funds for legal fees.

Fashion photographer, Muhammad Fadli bin Abdul Rahman, and transgender friend, Noor Vitriya Kistina Ibrahim, were arrested at a shopping mall in Abu Dhabi at the weekend and sentenced to a year in jail, according to relatives.

Fadli’s brother Saiful told AFP from Singapore that the pair were detained by the tourism police for “looking feminine”. Read more

Low fares for family groups

BANGKOK, 29 August 2017: Emirates is selling discounted fares for families and friends who fly from Bangkok to select destinations across Emirates’  global network.

The companion fare deals are valid for bookings for two to-nine passengers, but the deadline is fast approaching as the two-week offer closes 4 September.

Emirates and flydubai join forces

DUBAI, UAE, 24 July 2017: Emirates and flydubai have unveiled an extensive partnership, which will see the two Dubai-based airlines join forces to offer more travel options.

Both airlines will continue to be managed independently, but will leverage each other’s network to scale up their operations and accelerate growth.

The partnership goes beyond codeshares to include integrated networks with coordinated scheduling. The new model will give flydubai customers  connectivity to Emirates’ worldwide destinations spanning six continents. For Emirates’ customers, it opens up flydubai’s regional network. Read more

Emirates launches Hanoi service

DUBAI, UAE, 6 July 2017: Emirates airline commenced daily direct flights from Dubai to Hanoi, Vietnam, 1 July, providing Emirates’ passengers from Dubai and across Europe faster travelling times to Vietnam.

Passengers travelling to Hanoi on Emirates will no longer need to stop in Yangon, saving approximately two hours and 30 minutes of travel time.

The first direct flight EK394 from Dubai departed at 0330 and arrived at Noi Bai International Airport at 1305 local time. Read more

SINGAPORE, 6 July 2017: Missed out on a summer trip? Emirates is fielding some bargains for late planners for the autumn months, September and October, so it is not too late to plan a trip.

Emirates to go all A380 to Melbourne

DUBAI, 2 May 2017: Emirates will introduce an all-A380 service from Melbourne when it upgrades its third daily flight from the Australian city, EK408 and EK409, from a Boeing 777-300ER to an A380 service.

The move will add 945 seats per week to the Australian city from 25 March 2018, representing a 10% increase in capacity. This means Emirates customers can enjoy even more seamless “A380 to A380” connections via its hub in Dubai to 18 points in the UK and Europe. Read more

Airlines boost screening

DUBAI, 4 April 2017: Emirates and Etihad airlines will tighten screening for passengers flying to Australia this week after the country imposed new requirements for enhanced explosives detection, the UAE companies said Monday.

Australia on Friday announced it would increase screening of passenger baggage on flights from Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, as well as Doha, Qatar.

While the directive stops short of the sweeping electronics ban introduced last month by the United States and Britain, it may include targeted screening of passengers’ personal electronic devices. Read more
