Jet Airways taps Thailand codeshare

-

MUMBAI, 23 August 21, 2018: Bangkok Airways will be flying more Indian tourists to destinations in Thailand following an extension of a Jet Airways codeshare agreement with the Thai airline.

Jet Airways customers will be able to ticket and fly through to final destinations across Thailand and Vietnam from points in India.

It will also allow them to check their baggage through to final destinations in Thailand and Vietnam, while passing through Bangkok’s crowded Suvarnabhumi airport as transit passengers.

Indian leisure travellers will still need to apply for a visa-on-arrival, which will disrupt the otherwise almost seamless connections from Jet Airways international services to Bangkok Airways’ domestic flights. However, they can avoid the long delays at the visa-on-arrival counters if they apply for a tourist visa before leaving India.

For Indian travellers connecting from Jet Airways to Bangkok Airways’ flights to Vietnam, they will still need to apply for Vietnamese visa in advance.

Jet Airways will place a four-digit flight designator code on its flights from points in India that connect with Bangkok Airways’ flights from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Samui island, Krabi, Phuket, Sukhothai and Trat in Thailand. The codeshare also covers flights to Danang in central Vietnam and Phu Quoc Vietnam’s largest holiday island in the Gulf of Thailand.

The codeshare flights are available for bookings on Jet Airways’ website 23 August.

In the initial codeshare agreement, signed October 2013, Jet Airways placed its code on Bangkok Airways’ Mumbai – Bangkok flight, while Bangkok Airways placed its codes on Jet Airways’ flights between Bangkok-Mumbai and Bangkok-Delhi.
