SINGAPORE, 5 January 2026: Singapore Tourism Board has suspended Sunshine Tours & Travel Pte Ltd’s travel agency licence (03583) from conducting travel agent activities with effect from 31 December 2025, in accordance with the Travel Agents Act 1975.

Under the Travel Agents Regulations 2017, licensees must submit these documents within six months after the close of their financial year.
The suspensions will remain in effect until the documentation is submitted or for up to six months, whichever is earlier. During the suspension period, Sunshine Tours & Travel must fulfil its existing obligations to customers but may not accept new travel bookings.
STB said it “takes a serious view against errant travel agents and will not hesitate to take necessary actions to protect the reputation of Singapore’s travel industry. Any travel agent accepting new bookings during the suspension period will face enforcement action.”

KUALA LUMPUR, 24 December 2025: Tourism Malaysia welcomed Sichuan Airlines on the successful launch of its inaugural direct Chongqing–Kuala Lumpur service. This marks Sichuan Airlines’ second city connection to Malaysia, building upon its established Chengdu route.
The inaugural flight, 3U 3773, touched down at KL International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 at approximately 1145, establishing direct air connectivity between Chongqing and Kuala Lumpur.
Tourism Malaysia. The inaugural flight was officially welcomed by Samuel Lee, Deputy Director General (Promotion II); Nuwal Fadhilah Ku Azmi, Senior Director of Tourism Malaysia; Mohd Shaffreen Nooranee, Manager Marketing Communication & Services at MAHB; Zhou Cunming, Area General Manager (Malaysia/ Singapore/ Indonesia) of Sichuan Airlines and Allen Chan, Managing Director of Jayun Holiday (Sichuan Airlines Malaysia GSA). They were joined by Tourism Malaysia’s mascots, Wira and Manja, as well as the Sichuan Airlines crew to mark the launch of the Chongqing–Kuala Lumpur route.
Operating three times per week, the service links Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport (CKG) to KLIA (KUL). Utilising an Airbus A321/A320 aircraft, the route offers 160 passengers, significantly enhancing connectivity between Malaysia and Southern China while supporting growth in tourism, trade, and cultural exchange.
Passengers were warmly welcomed by Samuel Lee Thai Hung, Deputy Director General (Promotion II), Tourism Malaysia; Mdm. Nuwal Fadhilah Ku Azmi, Senior Director, International Promotion Divisions (Asia/Africa) of Tourism Malaysia; Azmi Abdullah, Senior Deputy Director, International Promotion Divisions (Asia/Africa) of Tourism Malaysia; Zhou Cunming, Area General Manager (Malaysia/ Singapore/ Indonesia) of Sichuan Airlines; and officials from Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB).
Commenting on the launch, Samuel Lee Thai Hung stated that the new service reflects the continued strengthening of tourism relations between Malaysia and China. The direct connectivity improves travel convenience for visitors from Chongqing and surrounding regions, while reinforcing Malaysia’s position as a preferred destination in Southeast Asia, offering rich culture, diverse tourism offerings, and natural attractions.
From January to August 2025, Malaysia recorded 3.3 million visitor arrivals from China, reflecting a 27.5% year-on-year increase compared to the same period in 2024. This sustained growth highlights Malaysia’s strong appeal among Chinese travellers, supported by enhanced air connectivity, vibrant urban destinations, renowned culinary experiences, and island getaways.
Tourism Malaysia remains committed to working closely with airlines, airport authorities, and industry stakeholders to expand international air connectivity further. In line with preparations for Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026), the launch of this inaugural route marks a timely boost in reinforcing Malaysia’s position as a leading global tourism destination.
The government’s target for VM2026 is twofold: to welcome 47 million international visitors and to inspire a significant surge in domestic travel, ensuring the campaign’s success as a comprehensive strategic framework for the nation’s tourism future.
BANGKOK, 23 December 2025: Cannubi by Umberto Bombana at Dusit International’s reimagined flagship hotel, Dusit Thani Bangkok, has been awarded One Michelin Star in The Michelin Guide Thailand 2026 – the first time an Italian restaurant in Thailand has received the distinction.
Curated by the renowned Chef Umberto Bombana – best known for his Hong Kong flagship, 8½ Otto e Mezzo Bombana, the world’s only three-Michelin-starred Italian restaurant outside Italy – Cannubi by Umberto Bombana reflects the chef’s lifelong dedication to exceptional produce, terroir, and refined Italian cooking.
His philosophy is brought to life in Bangkok by his longtime protégé, Executive Italian Chef Andrea Susto, who works with the finest locally sourced and imported ingredients to craft classically rooted dishes refined with contemporary technique. Seasonal à la carte offerings, tasting menus, a set lunch experience, and a celebrated white truffle menu – honouring Bombana’s reputation as The King of White Truffles – are complemented by a thoughtfully curated wine list of more than 350 labels chosen for their heritage, character, and quality.
Cannubi by Umberto Bombana’s design plays an equal role in shaping the dining experience. Situated on the lobby level of the reimagined Dusit Thani Bangkok, the two-level space looks out over the hotel’s dramatic nine-storey waterfall. Inside, the main dining room is crowned with intricately carved golden teakwood panels preserved and meticulously restored from the original hotel’s Benjarong restaurant. These heritage teak elements, combined with flowing lines and atmospheric lighting, create a warmly intimate setting, complemented by private dining rooms accommodating six and twelve guests.
“To be recognised as the first Italian restaurant in Thailand to receive a Michelin Star is a tremendous honour,” said Chef Umberto Bombana. “Cannubi by Umberto Bombana is a project very close to my heart, created to express the truth and soul of Italian cuisine through integrity, passion, and respect for exceptional ingredients. Seeing this spirit recognised in Bangkok means the world to me. I am incredibly proud of Chef Andrea Susto and our entire team. This accolade also reflects the vision of the new Dusit Thani Bangkok, where craftsmanship and creativity shape every detail.”
Cannubi by Umberto Bombana’s Michelin Star adds to a remarkable year for Dusit Thani Bangkok, which, since reopening in September 2024, has received one Michelin Key and earned its place among the world’s top 100 hotels, ranking #60 on the inaugural extended list of The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2025. The restaurant’s achievement further strengthens the hotel’s emergence as one of the region’s most compelling new dining destinations, with Pavilion, Dusit Gourmet, 1970 Bar, and the dramatic rooftop venue, Spire Rooftop Bar, among the other standout options.
Cannubi by Umberto Bombana is open for lunch and dinner from Tuesday to Sunday. For more information, visit dusit.com/dusitthani-bangkok.

BANGKOK, 22 December 2025: Phuket opens its 2026 events calendar on a positive note by hosting the Thailand International Boat Show from 15 to 18 January 2026 at the Phuket Yacht Haven Marina.
Held at the height of the Andaman coast’s peak tourism season, the event highlights the growing role of marine and coastal tourism in Thailand’s visitor economy. It brings together the boating, luxury lifestyle, travel, and property sectors, attracting high-spending visitors, long-stay travellers, and second-home owners to Thailand.
Boat show venue: Phuket Yacht Haven Marina.
“Marine and coastal tourism are no longer niche segments; they are becoming core drivers of visitor spending across Thailand’s coastal destinations,” said the Thailand International Boat Show’s organiser, JAND Events CEO David Hayes. “For the 2026 show, on-land exhibition space is close to full, many leading in-water brands have returned from last year, and the superyacht presence reflects continued confidence in Thailand as a base for high-value tourism and marine activity.”
Demand for water-based activities — including yacht chartering, island-hopping, watersports and luxury coastal living — continues to grow, particularly during the January high season when international visitors, regional travellers and second-home owners are most active in Phuket.
Reflecting its role within Thailand’s tourism and marine ecosystem, the event is supported by key government and provincial authorities, including the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Tourism Authority of Thailand, and Phuket Province, reinforcing its position as a nationally recognised platform for marine tourism and related industries.
The 2026 edition will feature a diverse lineup of marine exhibitors, highlighting Thailand’s growing appeal to both global yacht brands and regional buyers. Leading yacht names, including Beneteau, Prestige Yachts, Sunreef Yachts, Gulf Craft and Excess, will be showcased alongside multihulls from Fountaine Pajot, Leopard Catamarans, Lagoon and Max Cruise Marine. A key highlight for the Thai market is the Asian Premiere of the Aquila 42 Coupe, presented by Primus Marine, offering visitors an exclusive first look at the model.
Phuket has become one of the region’s preferred destinations for superyachts, driven by its cruising grounds, marina infrastructure and appeal to high-net-worth travellers. Reflecting this, the 40-metre SeaBear, formerly owned by golf legend Jack Nicklaus, will anchor the Superyacht Lounge at the Thailand International Boat Show, presented by Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous. Its presence at the show reinforces Phuket’s growing role as a base for large yachts and a hub for luxury marine tourism in Thailand.
Beyond boating, the Thailand International Boat Show reflects the broader luxury lifestyle ecosystem connected to marine tourism. Real estate developers such as Redwood Luxury Development, ABOV Patong, and Reignwood Park, alongside premium lifestyle brands, will participate, underscoring continued interest in Phuket as a second-home destination where visitors combine property ownership with marine activities, dining, and leisure experiences.
The programme is complemented by the one-day Thailand Yachting Conference, taking place on 14 January 2026 at The Slate, Nai Yang Beach, where industry leaders, marina operators and policymakers will discuss the future of boating, marine tourism and related economic opportunities in Thailand.
The fourth Thailand International Boat Show will take place from 15 to 18 January 2026 at Phuket Yacht Haven Marina, with the Thailand Yachting Conference convening on 14 January 2026 at The Slate, Nai Yang Beach.
