Malaysia attracts more business events

KUALA LUMPUR, 10 September 2019: Malaysia will host 37 large-scale business events during the Visit Malaysia Year 2020, according to the latest report from the Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau.

Reporting on meetings pencilled in for 2020, MyCEB confirmed said the events would attract around 45,000 delegates for a line-up of 37 business events focusing on healthcare, telecommunications, science and technology.

In a report published in the Sun Daily at the weekend, MyCEB confirmed that so far this year it has secured advance contracts for 301 business events from now until 2028. They will represent an estimated MYR3.9 billion in earnings for the national economy.

Events roll out during the fourth quarter of 2019 and continue until 2028, with MyCEB estimating they will draw as many as 570,741 delegates of which 208,555 will be international delegates.

According to Sun Daily winning bids include the 7th Asia Pacific Urban Forum 2019 opening mid-October, the 19th East Asia Regional Council of Schools Teachers’ Conference 2021 and the Conference of International Society of Travel Medicine 2021.

According to MyCEB’s annual report, it has secured a record of 1,100 international business events over the last eight years with an estimated economic impact of MYR8.5 billion for the country.
