Anantara debuts in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, 23 September 2019: Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas is entering the Malaysian hospitality sector with the opening of the Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas scheduled for 1 December. 

Desaru Coast located at Malaysia’s south-eastern tip in Johor Bahru is a massive real estate and resort development covering 16 sq km claiming a 17 km beachfront facing the South China Sea. 

The development that includes theme parks and resort hotels is close to Iskandar Malaysia and a 45-minute drive from  Senai International Airport (JHB) and a two-hour drive from Singapore. 

The main target markets are Singaporean families and Chinese tourists visiting Singapore who can to Desaru Coast by ferry, followed by a short drive.

The new-build Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas will have 123 rooms including 90 rooms in low-rise buildings that overlook the gardens, lagoon and ocean.

There are also 13 stand-alone one- and two-bedroom pool villas; and 20 three- and four-bedroom residences with an infinity pool, full kitchen and chef and butler service.

Attractions in the area include The Els Club Desaru Coast that comprises two golf courses with 45 holes; an adventure waterpark; a waterfront retail village; a conference centre and branded hotels and resorts. The project is Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas’ first venture in Malaysia, through a joint venture with Malaysian partner, Themed Attractions Resorts & Hotels Sdn. Bhd. (TAR&H), a subsidiary of Khazanah Nasional Berhad.
