Vietnam airlines ready for peak holiday

HANOI, 4 April 2019: Airlines in Vietnam are preparing to increase flights to accommodate travel during a two-day holiday 30 April and 1 May.

According to Vietnam News Agency, Vietnam Airlines and Jetstar Pacific have confirmed they will add 1 million seats, or around 4,700 flights on domestic and international routes for the Reunification Day (30 April) and International Labour Day (1 May 1).

Vietnam Airlines confirmed it would add 800,000 seats, a rise of around 78,000 seats year-on-year, while Jetstar Pacific will another 200,000 seats on additional flights, 26 April to 5 May.

Most of the additional flights will be on routes linking Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Danang, Phu Quoc and Nha Trang and on international routes between Vietnam and Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and Cambodia, VNA reported.

Airlines are warning passengers to check in early for flights during the peak holiday week running from Friday 26 April to 2 May.  Savvy residents take a day off on Monday 29 April to give them a five-day break.

Flights to Thailand are expected to be fully booked.
