BANGKOK, 4 January 2019: Tokyo, Paris and New York City were the top destinations for New Year celebrations, according to Agoda, that claimed a third more people opted to getaway to celebrate on New Year’s Eve.
Tokyo claimed the top spot for Chinese and Singaporean travellers to countdown the New Year.
Agoda reported that Tokyo’s appeal continued to grow due to its jam-packed itinerary of concerts, parades and light shows making it the top destination in the region to welcome the New Year.

For Thai travellers, Chiang Mai turned out to be more popular than Bangkok based on Agoda booking trends.
Japan was the most popular international destination for Thais, with Tokyo jumping from seventh place to third place and Osaka along side Taipei in Taiwan making an appearance in this year’s top 10 spots for Thai travellers.
