BANGKOK, 9 August 2018: Expedia announced, Wednesday, its “Add-On Advantage”, the newest way for travellers to secure a hotel deal through what the travel trade calls ‘bundling’.
The Expedia Add-On Advantage unlocks guaranteed discounts from hundreds of thousands of participating hotels for travellers who book a flight or package (flight + hotel) on Expedia and come back to book a hotel up until the day of their departure.
On average, travellers can secure up to 51%* off the cost of their hotel purchase by checking back for a later deal.
Expedia is selling its travel bundling service that combines flight and hotel bookings in a package for maximum savings due to deep discounts offered by its lodging partners.
It virtually gives consumers the same capabilities that were exclusive territory for travel agencies by allowing them to bundle the entire travel process rather than booking components in separate booking sessions.
They can book their flight and hotel, but still reserve the right to check back on the hotel component later in search for a better deal.
Essentially it gives consumers an even more powerful tool to book and manage travel from a vast inventory of flight and hotel options far more than many B2B bookings systems can offer.
In addition, while you are checking out rates on Expedia you can switch windows to Google Map and check out the exact locations of hotels and even view the environment from different perspectives even street view.
Expedia data shows that Thai travellers booked an average of 10.1 flights a year. The research also indicated that only 36% of Thais would bundled their flights and hotels with 37% booking their flights first and then a hotel later.
They missed out on potential savings of bundling their bookings in one session.
Expedia general manager Southeast Asia and India, Simon Fiquet said: “No longer will they need to visit multiple sites when they know they’re getting access to guaranteed discounts on accommodation simply from booking a flight or package. Better yet, it takes away the pressure of planning and paying for everything up front.”
