Sarawak focuses on events

KUCHING, 21 May 2018: Australian travel trade partners will have a chance to meet up with Sarawak’s tourism officials and inbound travel companies at the Travel Industry Exhibition.

The event will be hosted at Dockside Cockle Bay Wharf in Darling Harbour in Sydney from 21 to 22 August.

The exhibition is now one Australia’s leading events focusing on “Mobile, MICE and Luxury” sectors of the outbound travel tourism industry.

According to the latest ‘Hornbill’ newsletter, Sarawak’s inbound tourism representatives are hoping to establish contacts with the luxury and MICE planners at the event in a move to raise the state’s market share in Australia.

Apart from seminars, the networking event connects exhibitors and buyers creating and selling luxury products.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, the Borneo Jazz wrapped up with jazz stars and bands entertaining a record turnout.

The festival’s star-studded Malaysian headliners such as Zainal Abidin, Dasha Logan, Michael Veerapen and Zee Avi were the top bill performers at the three-day event, but they shared the stage with international jazz artists such as Q Sound, Grzegorz Karnas Formula and Roby Lakatos.

The annual event that draws close to thousand jazz enthusiasts to the seaside town of Miri was covered by over 50 local and international media and travel bloggers, who visited other locations in Sarawak at the close of the festival as part of the state’s intensified efforts to raise its profile as an upscale destination through festivals and its variety of nature and cultural related travel options.
