Songkran Holiday 12 to 16 April

-

BANGKOK, 11 April 2018: Songkran a region-wide water festival to mark the traditional New Year is celebrated with enthusiasm in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.

In Thailand the actual festival days set aside for official ceremonies, visits to the temple and family gatherings are 13 to 15 April.

However, this year the national holiday has been extended from 12 to 16 April to give families more time to reunite.

In some provinces and destinations, notably Pattaya, the celebrations begin a week after the rest of the country.

Today, 11 April, offices remain open, but by early evening the mass exodus of holiday makers travelling to their home provinces will begin in earnest.

Offices will reopen Tuesday 17 April. TTR Weekly’s business-day news alert will resume 17 August.

In the meantime, we wish our readers across the region, who celebrate the traditional New Year, happy and safe travels.
