ITB forum looks at the digital world

-

BERLIN, 30 January 2018: ITB’s Business Travel Forum will look at how digitalisation is now a major challenge for the business travel market one that it must urgently confront.

The theme this year looks at ‘Business travel 4.0: dynamic, digital, disruptive.’

ITB Business Travel Forum will take place 8 March in Hall 7.1a, Room New York 2.

Visitors can get first-hand knowledge and practical information on the latest business travel trends. Admission is free. This year’s partner is the German Business Travel Association (VDR).

American Express Global Business Travel, will demonstrate what the industry can learn from youth travel and consumer behaviour and how digitalisation must positively impact on business travel.

Speakers will look at disruptive business models and digital ’attackers’ who are increasingly taking aim at the travel industry. In theory, the travel manager of the future must forfeit his role as a static departmental salesman and become a pro-active innovation scout and manager of digital eco-systems, the ITB conference blurb stated.

Marcus Scholz, management executive at Eurocar Deutschland, will demonstrate  a new world in the Internet of Things in the car rental sector. He will show that Alexa Echo and Alexa Show can already be used to manage services through the human voice, allowing a traveller to  voice control the rental of a car, change booking dates or cancel reservations.
