Princess rewards young travellers

-

SINGAPORE, 5 November 2019: Princess Cruises will extend its  Captain’s Circle Loyalty programme to guests of all ages by rewarding their loyal younger guests with privileges that are enjoyed only by adult members.

Previously, only guests who are 18 years or older, were eligible to be members.

By extending its loyalty programme, Princess Cruises has become the first and only cruise line to provide young passengers with Elite and Platinum status, complimentary Wi-Fi.

MedallionClass Vacation ships offer exceptional Wi-Fi access at sea, giving guests the opportunity to enjoy fast, reliable and unlimited Internet service to easily share vacation experiences with friends and family back home, stream TV shows, movies and sports events, and even make voice and video calls.

While Princess Cruises offers many family-oriented features and amenities including family accommodation, new dining experiences and entertainment offerings, its latest offering is designed to deliver a new experience for kids and teens onboard the cruise line’s luxury fleet.

“Our guests will welcome the news that children and youths cruising with the group will now be entitled to join the loyalty programme.  Becoming a member of our loyalty programme will add extra-special touches to the experience for young guests with Elite and Platinum status who can now enjoy free Wi-Fi to remain more connected than ever to their friends and family and continue to share their joy of cruising with the world,” said  Princess Cruises Southeast Asia director Farriek Tawfik.

Tawfik added that this will further encourage multi-generational travel as more children and youths can now enjoy the same Captain’s Circle benefits as their parents and grandparents. Moreover, it will also boost Fly-Cruise as families travel to further destinations to cruise such as Alaska, the Mediterranean, Baltics & Russia and also around Asia.

Travel trends study

According to Expedia’s Generation Alpha & Family Travel Trends study, a new generation of travellers – Generation Alpha – is becoming an emergent force in influencing travel purchase decisions. Gen Alpha refers to those born after 2010 – the same year that iPad and Instagram debuted. The study also showed that there is an increasing trend of families making travel decisions that can satisfy the tech-savvy Gen Alpha during their holidays.

Captain’s Circle is a four-tier loyalty programme based on the number of days cruised or the number of cruises taken. Cruisers start as Gold members after one cruise and progress through Ruby and Platinum to become Elite members. In order to start receiving Captain’s Circle benefits, guests must have completed their first cruise and registered on the Princess Cruises website.

Members get access to special pricing on certain cruises, early bookings, an invitation to events, a monthly newsletter and membership pin amongst a host of benefits.  Members who achieve Platinum or Elite status also enjoy free internet, priority embarkation and disembarkation, extra in-cabin amenities and other benefits.
