BANGKOK, 19 September 2017: After 19 years, Malaysia farewells the Formula 1 series later this month, while neighbour Singapore has signed a new contract to keep its famous F1 night race roaring for another five years.

Hosting mega sports events are the Holy Grail for nations keen to create awareness and boost tourism earnings.

Malaysia lowered the curtain on its F1 Grand Prix claiming it was no longer cost effective. Singapore after several rounds of negotiations secured a financial package that should give it bottom-line benefits for the next five year. Read more

Lagnua Phuket readies for the race

PHUKET, 14 September 2017: Organisers of the 24th Laguna Phuket Triathlon presented the final race programme at a  “meet press” event at Phuket City Hall, Wednesday.

“ The Phuket Governor Meet Press” session, hosted by Phuket Governor, Norapat Plodthong, presented the latest details of the island’s iconic endurance  race.

This year’s event will comprise of an inaugural LPT Charity Fun Run Saturday, 18 November and 24th annual LPT on Sunday 19 November. Read more

Laguna race dates announced

PHUKET, 10 January 2017: Organisers of Phuket’s iconic sports event, Laguna Phuket Triathlon (LPT), Laguna Phuket announced, last week, the 24th edition will be scheduled Sunday 19 November 2017.

The event will comprise of signature race distances of a 1.8 km swim, 50 km bike and 12 km run.

Phuket’s top triathlon revamps

BANGKOK, 27 September 2016: Laguna Phuket Triathlon celebrates its 23rd year with a revamp of its promotions and the introduction of a new bike course.

The race, featuring a 1.8 km swim, 50 km bike and 12 km run is scheduled this year on Sunday, 20 November, at Laguna Phuket.

At a media event in Bangkok the organisers showcased a baby elephant mascot named “Laguna” as the race’s new ambassador, a newly redesigned race logo, new bike course and tips to conquer the course. Read more

XTerra raises Thailand’s sports image

BANGKOK, 5 August 2016: Thailand’s first off-road triathlon will be hosted on Samui Island, this September, as a prologue, trial event that will lead up to Thailand’s inclusion in the XTerra Asia Pacific World Tour 2017.

The XTerra World Tour Championship countries for 2017 will include Philippines, Korea, Japan, Saipan, New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia and Thailand.

Active Management Asia teamed up with XTerra, a world leader in off-road sports events to incorporate Thailand into the 2017 Asia-Pacific World Tour series. Read more
