Scoot hands flights to Silk

SINGAPORE, 10 October 2017:  Silk Air will take over five weekly services to Yangon, Myanmar, currently operated by the SIA Group’s low-cost subsidiary Scoot, effective, 29 October.

SilkAir already operates 10 nonstop flights a week to Yangon and three services a week via Mandalay in Myanmar.

With the transfer of Scoot’s Yangon services, Silk Air will boost its Yangon operations to 15 nonstop services a week. Parent company Singapore Airlines also operates daily services to Yangon. Read more

Silk Air deploys 737 Max

SINGAPORE, 23 August 2017: Silk Air will deploy it’s  brand new 737 Max 8 aircraft on routes to Australia, Japan, India and Nepal, effective late October.

The airline will be the second in Asia, following Malindo Air, to take delivery of the new Boeing 737s.

Silk Air has 37 of the aircraft on order and intends to replace its aging A320 fleet with the new aircraft. Read more

Lao Air back to Singapore

VIENTIANE, 1 August 2017: Lao Airlines will relaunch a flight between Vientiane and Singapore starting 29 October.

According to the airline website, the route will be operated with three weekly flights Wednesday, Friday and Sunday using an Airbus A320.

Earlier this year Lao Airlines halted direct flights from Vientiane to Singapore without giving any credible reasons according to Vientiane Times. Read more
