Thailand taps Muslim travel

BANGKOK, 11 July 2017: Thailand’s 6 million-strong Muslim population and a growing range of Muslim-friendly travel services will play an important role in catering to the growing number of Muslim travellers visiting the country.

Speaking at a seminar held at the PATA Engagement hub, last week, experts agreed that this role would increase significantly as the ASEAN integration advances and Thailand seeks to better position itself as a hub for Halal food and cuisine.

Speakers included Halal Standards Institute of Thailand director, Pakorn Piyakorn; Al Meroz Hotel general manager, Sanya Saengboon; Nouvo City Hotel resident manager, Adam Phadungsilp; and Travel Impact Newswire executive editor Imtiaz Muqbil, who organised the event. Read more

Lens lines: Royal Cliff hosts Thai- Russia seminar

PATTAYA, 12 October 2016: Royal Cliff Hotels Group  hosted the “Bridging Thailand and Russia” seminar, last month, organised by the Thai-Russian Chamber of Commerce.

More than 60 participants joined the event, mostly government and trade mission delegates from the Russian Federation.

Exhibition seminar heads for Chiang Mai

BANGKOK, 17 December 2015: Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau says it has won the hosting of the “UFI Open Seminar Asia 2016” bringing the event back to Thailand in the space of five years.

The event will be held 25 to 26 February, 2016, at the Shangri-La Hotel in Chiang Mai.

Event topics will focus on “Digital Disruption” and the roles and the impact of digital marketing on the international exhibition industry. Read more

Travellers should adopt Thainess

BANGKOK, 20 July 2015: Tourists visiting Thailand should adopt a behaviour that is compatible with the ‘Thainess’ concept, Association of Domestic Travel former president, Maiyarat Pheerayakoses told a gathering of tourism experts last week.

She called on the government to act to improve tourist behaviour without giving details how that could be achieved.

The comments were made at a high-powered seminar “Moving Thailand Tourism Forward” attended by Thailand’s top tourism planners.

Thailand’s tourism needs reform

BANGKOK, 2 April 2015: Thailand’s tourism needs to urgently reform its management systems if it intends to be a leading regional player.

Speaking at Thailand Tourism Reform 2015 to 2020 seminar, Wednesday,  at Thammasat University director general advisor, Dr Surapit Promsit, said there were three reforms touching on government service, destination management and hospitality service that needed to be taken on board urgently.

“Government service reform means we need to bring in specialists on tourism to work in the Ministry of Tourism and Sports,” he said.

PATA Thailand Chapter event 19 March

BANGKOK, 13 March 2015: If you have a vision of where Thai tourism is heading, there is an open invitation to share it with other travel executives at a seminar 19 March.

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports in co-operation with PATA Thailand Chapter is organising what it calls an interactive event “Imagine Thailand 2020 – A New Public-Private Vision for Thai Tourism”.

The event is open to all travel executives  and will be held Thursday 19 March, 0900 to 1700 at the ballroom of Centara Grand at CentralWorld in downtown Bangkok.
