Wharf appoints group director

HONG KONG,  20 September 2017:  Wharf Hotels has appointed James Bevans as its new group director of rooms.

Reporting to the group’s vice president operations, Bevans is responsible for room operations at the group’s 15 hotels under the Niccolo and Marco Polo Hotels brands.

Asia-Pacific hotel pipeline grows

LONDON, 17 May 2017: STR’s latest Pipeline Report for April shows 608,581 rooms in 2,753 hotel projects under contract in the Asia Pacific region.

Shanghai reported the highest number of project in the pipeline representing an addition of more than 10,000 rooms.

The total pipeline performance in the region represents a 3.8% increase in rooms under contract compared with April 2016. Read more

Sleep tight with Mövenpick

BAAR, SWITZERLAND, 14 March 2017: Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts is launching a ground-breaking new room category concept that guarantees guests what they value the most – a good night’s sleep.

All Mövenpick hotels in Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland will feature this new room category from 17 March 2017, which is World Sleep Day.

The group teamed up with Swedish bed manufacturer YouBed and tested the concept for six months. Read more

More rooms in pipeline

LONDON, 15 February 2017: STR’s January 2017 Pipeline Report shows 598,952 rooms in 2,670 hotel projects are under contract in the Asia Pacific region.

The total represents a 2.2% increase in rooms under contract compared with January 2016.

Under contract data includes projects under construction and in various stages of planning, but does not include projects in that have yet to be confirmed. Read more

C9 sheds light on Thai hotel scene

PHUKET, 18 October 2016: A new report by C9 Hotelworks outlines the state of play in Thailand’s hotel management sector.

After more than a decade of strong growth, there are now 643 properties with over 77,000 keys under Thai-based groups.

The country boasts 83 different hotel companies across 41 Provinces according to the report written by C9’s managing director, Bill Barnett. Read more
