Inle Lake trip explores pagoda ruins

INLE LAKE, Myanmar, 29 November 2017: Sanctum Inle Resort, an upscale resort in one of Myanmar’s most compelling destinations, Inle Lake, has launched a boat journey to an ancient capital where more than 100 stupas stand in a flooded plain.

As more tourists discover the lake’s stilted villages and floating market gardens, the resort has introduced a full- day tour to Sagar, a 538-year-old village at the southern-most reaches of the lake.

Founded as a royal capital of the Shan State in 1479, Sagar has been dubbed the lake’s “best kept secret.” Its 108 stupas that date to the 16th and 17th centuries. They are partially submerged during the rainy season. Read more

Wellness packages on Phu Quoc

PHU QUOC, Vietnam, 29 November 2017:  Fusion Resort Phu Quoc, the newest spa resort to open on this holiday island, will focus on wellness packages as its signature content.

The resort will launch three packages of three, five and seven-day duration crafted to build wellness and health but not  in the strict fashion of a wellness retreat.

Ani Villas names GM

ANGUILLA, 27 November 2017: John Vasatka will take over as CEO this month for the Ani Villas’ collection of private resorts in Anguilla, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

He will also head the management of a fourth property due to open later this month in the Dominican Republic.

Vasatka has worked with upscale hotels for nearly two decades, including 12 years as general manager at various Aman Resorts’ in the Caribbean, the Middle East, Sri Lanka and Thailand. Read more

Well Hotels signs two hotels

BANGKOK, 30 October 2017: A Thailand-based hotel company, Well Hotels & Resorts, has signed management contracts to run two properties in Pattaya.

One of the hotels, Costa Well Resort Pattaya, is under construction and will target small to mid-sized meeting groups, while the other, Costa Village Well Pool Villa, is a boutique resort on Jomtien bay having nine villas. Read more

Thomas Cook outlook bright

LONDON, 27 September 2017: British travel firm, Thomas Cook, faced a “challenging” September as it took care of 22,000 customers in destinations hit by Hurricane Irma, it said Tuesday alongside a bright trading update.

Thomas Cook was forced to evacuate some of 7,500 customers from its badly-hit resorts in Cuba, a company spokeswoman said.

The group provided also support for 10,000 customers in Florida and 4,500 in the Dominican Republic, but there was no need for evacuation programmes, the spokeswoman said. Read more

Work stops play at Bali resorts

BALI, 14 September 2017: Urgent repairs and improvements are underway at two resorts on the popular tourist island; Seminyak Beach Resort and Spa and Keyana Seminkak.

At the Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa, work is underway to repair a damaged seafront retaining wall, stairs to the beach and a temple pavilion.

Damage was caused by exceptionally strong tidal waves, Asian Trails’ latest trade update stated. Read more

InVision GLOWS in Vietnam

HANOI, 6 September 2017: Bangkok-based InVision Hospitality announced, Tuesday, it has secured the management contract for Scenic Bay Complex  in Nha Trang, Vietnam

InVision Hospitality CEO, Kevin Beauvais and Nam Tien Lao Cai JSC general director, Cao Thi Thu Hien, participated in a signing ceremony in Vietnam, last week.

The large-scale project requires an investment estimated at VND2.05 trillion USD$93.4 million) and covers 7,666 square metres of land area. Read more
