Air France-KLM robust profits rally

PARIS, 6 November 2017: The French-Dutch airline Air France-KLM said at the weekend that robust business environment and “solid” traffic gave earnings a lift in the third quarter.

Air France-KLM said in a statement that its net profit edged 1.5% higher to 552 million euros (USD643 million) in the period from July to September.

Underlying or operating profit jumped by 38.7% to 1.022 billion euros on a 4.3% increase in sales to 7.234 billion euros. Read more

Row brews over new airline

THE HAGUE, 26 July 2017: Air France’s new lower-cost subsidiary Joon could harm its Dutch partner KLM, a leading Dutch work’s committee member warned Tuesday, adding to an acrimonious atmosphere between the two airlines.

“Joon is supposed to be the solution to all the problems. It’s totally unrealistic,” Jan-Willem van Dijk, the president of the work’s committee told the Volkskrant daily.

The plan was “not economically prudent and potentially may be damaging to KLM”. Read more
