BANGKOK, 17 October 2011 – Tourism Authority of Thailand Hua Hin office is launching a season opener for golfers, 4 November, in a joint effort with TAT offices in Prachuap Khiri Khan and Phetchaburi.

The Golf Kick Off Season is a one-day invitational to golfers to tee off at 10-participating golf courses in Prachuap Khiri Khan and Phetchaburi provinces for free.

Resorts offer deals on green fees

BANGKOK, 21 July 2011 – Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Prachuap Khiri Khan and Phetchaburi offices, will  jointly host an annual golf event August to September at 10 participating golf courses in Hua Hin and Cha Am.

TAT announced, Tuesday, the annual golf festival, now in its 10th year, will get underway at the two coastal resorts 1 August.

The event focuses on 10 golf courses in Hua Hin and Cha Am: The Eagle Milford; Suan Son Pradipat; Palm Hills; Imperial Lake View;  Banyan; Majestic Creek; Sawang Resort; Kaeng Krachan; Royal Hua Hin and Springfield Royal Country Club. Read more

China focus for TAT I-San office

BANGKOK, 15 June 2011-Tourism Authority of Thailand’s northeast office released details of a marketing plan to gain more Chinese tourists  to Thailand next year.

TAT northeastern region director, Apichart Intrarapongpan, told TTR Weekly, last Friday, that TAT.s northeast  office will encourage more Chinese tourists to visit Thailand from Guizhou, Sichuan and Yunnan provinces for golf and Mekong caravan tours in Northeast Thailand.

Thailand is part of the Mekong Region marketed as Six Countries, One River. The region includes two provinces in China, Guangxi and Yunnan, and Thailand’s neigbours – Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. Read more

Golfing great remembered

BANGKOK, 11 May 2011 – Golfing great and captain of the European side, Severiano Ballesteros, who died in Spain, recently, was also a great supporter of golf in Thailand.

In 2007, he penned a request to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand in the hope of bringing all of Asia together for a team golf competition in Thailand on the scale of those in Europe and the US. Read more

TAT tees off to capture golf market

BANGKOK, 30 March 2011 — The Tourism Authority of Thailand is sending a team to network and promote Thailand’s  golf courses at a high profile event “North America Golf Tourism Convention,” to be hosted in California,18 to 21 May, TAT reported late last week.

The event organised by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators will have around 100 buyers who sell golf tours. TAT is the only Asian national tourist office attending the event.

According to TAT deputy governor for International Marketing Europe and the Americas, Juthaporn Rerngronasa , TAT will focus on quality tourists in the Americas with golf tourism a priority.

Honda backs Pattaya golf

BANGKOK, 14 February 2011 – Pattaya welcomes 50 top golfers for the women’s Honda LPGA Thailand 2011, 17 to 20 February, at Siam Country Club.

Hosted by Honda Automobile (Thailand), other supporting sponsors are PTT Company Public Limited, Chonburi province, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, Bank of Ayudhya and Cotto.

All 50 female golfers are in the LPGA Official Money List 2010 and there will 10 golfers independently sponsored.

TAT plans more road shows

BANGKOK, 7 January 2011 – Tourism Authority of Thailand will target high-end European travellers by launching road shows throughout 2011, the National News Bureau of Thailand reported Thursday.

According to TAT deputy governor of Europe, Africa, Middle East and America market, Jutaporn Roengronasa, TAT aims to use road shows to increase high-end travellers in a bid to compensate for a deline in lower and middle-class travellers.

Also she added that two markets, Iran and Turkey were key targets for the campaign.

BANGKOK, 21 October 2010 – Tourism Authority of Thailand released details of  major golf-related events last week that will help Thailand to strengthen its role as golf holiday destination during 2011.

Three events were scheduled for earlier this year and the balance by October 2011.

The events include the 2010 Asia Pacific Golf Summit, 2010 Asia Pacific Golf Industry Show, the 2010 Golf Course Superintendents of Asia Summit, 2011 Asian Golf Tourism Forum, 2011 Southeast Asia/India Golf Merchandise Show, 2011 PGA of Asia Conference, 2011 Asia Pacific Golf Summit, 2011 Asia Pacific Golf Industry Show and 2011 Golf Course Superintendents of Asia Summit, to push Thailand as Southeast Asia’s premier golf hub.

Golf tournaments in the North

BANGKOK, 13 September 2010 – Thailand Tee-off Service invites golfers to tournaments, October through to November, at courses in North Thailand, according to a Tourism Authority of Thailand notice posted on its website Monday.

The first tournament Chiang Mai Tee off Cup will be hosted at six golf courses in Chiang Mai, 24 to 31 October. They are: Alpine Golf Course; Inthanon Golf Course; Highland Golf Course; Royal Chiang Mai Golf Course; Gassan Khuntan Golf Course and Mae Jo Golf Course. The package costs Bt25,000/ person for twin-share accommodation and Bt30,000/person in a single room.
