BANGKOK, 16 November 2017: THAI welcomed cyclists, last week, participating in the Happy World Tour for Happy Child Foundation in a mission to raise funds for an orphanage,

Lagnua Phuket readies for the race

PHUKET, 14 September 2017: Organisers of the 24th Laguna Phuket Triathlon presented the final race programme at a  “meet press” event at Phuket City Hall, Wednesday.

“ The Phuket Governor Meet Press” session, hosted by Phuket Governor, Norapat Plodthong, presented the latest details of the island’s iconic endurance  race.

This year’s event will comprise of an inaugural LPT Charity Fun Run Saturday, 18 November and 24th annual LPT on Sunday 19 November. Read more

Helping children smile

BANGKOK, 12 September 2017: Operation Smile Thailand encouraged 20 cyclists, who joined the inaugural YAANA Bike Challenge, offering them a big ‘thank you’ as they embarked on 226-km fundraiser ride for the charity, 9 September.

The three-day corporate challenge ended Monday, 11 September in central Vietnam.

Riders raised  thousands of dollars for Operation Smile, which pays for operations for Asian children born with facial deformities such as cleft lip. Read more

YANNA bike ride to raise a smile

Phuket Food & Music Festival

PHUKET, 23 January 2017: Laguna Phuket is promoting its latest venture “Laguna Phuket Food & Music Festival (LPFMF)” that will be hosted at the west coast resort complex, Friday 3 to Sunday 5 March 2017.

Organisers said the inaugural festival will heighten Phuket’s status as a “City of Gastronomy”.

YAANA charity sponrors cleft-lip repairs

BANGKOK, 30 November 2016: Three winners of the YAANA Venture Operation Smile Charity Fight Night won adventure holidays at the fundraising event late last week in Bangkok.

Fight Night is an annual charity boxing match, silent auction and raffle that raises money to give free operations to children in rural Thai provinces to repair cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities.

The event is organised by YAANA Ventures, the travel group that owns and manages Khiri Travel. Read more

Charity that corrupts

HA GIANG, 4 December 2015: Ha Giang province authorities have petitioned tourists to stop handing cash to local children as their generosity corrupts children creating a dependency and a habit of asking for money from visitors.

Saigon Times media quoted the provincial Party Committee secretary, Trieu Te Vinh, saying tourist arrivals in the province have steadily grown, but there are serious downsides to tourism.

“Tourists are sympathetic to the difficulties faced by children in rural areas, so they try to help by giving them cash. It encourages a habit of soliciting tourists for money.” Read more

The event is the annual charity boxing match and silent auction that raises money to give free operations to children in Thailand to repair cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities. Khiri Reach is a main (“heavy weight”) sponsor.

SilkAir aids Child’s Dream

SINGAPORE, 21 Janury 2015: SilkAir has adopted Child’s Dream Foundation, a charitable, not-for-profit organisation based in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

The non-government organisation empowers marginalised children and youth in the Mekong Sub-Region, mainly in Myanmar, Laos, Thailand and Cambodia focusing on improving the educational and health.

SilkAir’s chief executive officer, Leslie Thng, and Co-Founder of Child’s Dream Foundation, Marc Jenni, officially sealed a three-year collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding at a signing ceremony held today at Child’s Dream headquarters in Chiang Mai this week.
