HANOI, 17 August 2017: Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and Singapore Airlines embarked on a Vietnam Tourism Roadshow, this week, that travels to key cities in Australia to drum up bookings for Vietnam.

The first event was held in Perth, 15 August, and follows with a presentation in Sydney and closes, 18 August, in Melbourne.

Australian expatriate, Linh Le, is the roadshow’s MC and co-host leading the delegation.  Read more

A new aviation tax in pipeline

KUALA LUMPUR, 17 August 2017: Following on from a MYR10 tourist tax that comes into effect 1 September, Malaysia is processing a new tax on departing airline travellers.

There are plans to introduce a MYR1 (US$0.23) levy for all passengers departing from Malaysian airports as early as 2018.

Qatar Airways launches Chiang Mai flight

DOHA, Qatar, 17 August 2017: Qatar Airways has announced it will launch flights to Chiang Mai, its fourth destination in Thailand  to meet increased demand for Thai destinations from holiday-makers mainly in Europe.

The new route comes in addition to existing services to Bangkok and to popular holiday destinations Phuket and Krabi.

The new four-weekly seasonal service will operate between Doha and Chiang Mai (CNX), using a wide-body aircraft from December through to May 2018. Read more

Jetstar flies to Chiang Mai

BANGKOK, 16 August 2017:– The first Jetstar Pacific flight serving the Chiang Mai-Quang Binh route took off from Chiang Mai last weekend.

The twice-weekly service is the first to connect the Thai northern city to an emerging tourist destination in central Vietnam.

KUALA LUMPUR 16 August 2017: After a 16-year break, Malaysia is once again set to host the Southeast Asian Games.

Held from 19 to 30 August in Kuala Lumpur, the region’s biggest multi-sporting event will feature sporting talent from 11 Southeast Asian countries.

SEOUL, 15 August 2017: Korea’s first ‘lifestyle hotel-plex’ Seoul Dragon City will open, 1 October, featuring four AccorHotels brands and attractive travel deals to mark the opening.

The complex will have 1,700 rooms across various properties, 11 restaurants and bars, 17 meeting rooms and two multi-function grand ballrooms.

The event will end this Sunday at Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre.
