Emirates Skywards teams up with Mileslife

SINGAPORE 17 October 2017:  Emirates’ loyalty programme, Skywards, has confirmed a partnership deal with Mileslife, an airline miles-earning app that will extend Skywards Miles accumulation options.

Mileslife app users,  who are Emirates Skywards members, can earn Skywards Miles through dining, hotels, spas and other recreational activities with both local and travel merchants in Singapore and China.

Effective 17 October, for every Singapore dollar spent, members will earn up to five Skywards Miles and an additional bonus based on their Emirates Skywards tier. Read more

Cebu Pacific flies a seat sale

SINGAPORE, 18 October 2017: To mark this year’s celebrations of the 50th Anniversary of the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Cebu Pacific Air launched a five-day seat sale that closes midnight 20 October.

The sale offers all-inclusive fares from Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam to four cities in the Philippines*: Bohol, Cebu, Dumaguete and Manila, from as low as USD40.

Travel will be valid 1 January to 31 March 2018, which covers the upcoming Lunar New Year holidays. Read more

Macau air link to Phuket

MACAU, 16 October 2017: AirAsia’s newest route will link Macau, Asia’s top gambling destination with Thailand’s holiday island Phuket.

Scheduled for launch 8 January, 2018, the service is already open for bookings with a special fare starting at at THB 1,590 per sector.

Bookings are open from now until -29 October for travel, 8 January through to 21 November 2018. Read more

Tour firms boost bus fleets

SINGAPORE , 16 October 2017: Scania Singapore handed over its largest-ever, one-time delivery of 20 upscale buses to two customers – Transtar Travel & Tours and WTS Travel & Tours – at the Travel Malaysia 2017 event in Singapore, last week.

At the handover ceremony, each customer took delivery of 10 Scania K-series coaches that claim to have superior fuel economy.

The acquisition of the new coaches will allow the two companies to introduce new routes to promote cross-border travel between Singapore and Malaysia. Read more

Vietjet inks deal with Qatar Airways

HO CHI MINH CITY, 17 October 2017: Vietjet and Qatar Airways have entered into a two-phase interline partnership that kicked off in September by allowing Qatar Airways’ passengers to travel to and from points in Vietnam and Taiwan using connecting services on Vietjet.

The second phase will extend the interline partnership to allow Vietjet’s passengers to connect with Qatar flights to  more than 150 points, worldwide, served by Qatar Airways using a single reservation across both of the airlines’ networks.

It will include passengers flying domestic services in Vietnam on Vietjet to connect with Qatar Airways’ services to Doha out of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Read more

AirAsia makes comeback in Japan

SEPANG, Malaysia, 16 October 2017 – AirAsia Japan will be back in business, 29 October when it launches its maiden service from Nagoya to Sapporo.

The twice-daily service will commence will connecy Nagoya – AirAsia Japan’s main hub – to the capital of northern Hokkaido prefecture.

To mark the launch, AirAsia is selling a special promotional fare starting t JPY5* from 17 October  (0001h GMT +9) to 22 October 2017 (2359h GMT +9) for travel between 29 October and 24 March 2018. Read more

ASEAN sports ministers meet in Myanmar

NAY PYI TAW, 17 October 2017: ASEAN Ministers of Sports endorsed a number of new initiatives to advance cooperation in sports in ASEAN, including reviving traditional sports and games.

The ministers also concluded more needed to be achieved to improve the  participation of women in sports, and leveraging sports for development of life skills through youth communities and organisations.

The points were the main conclusions of the 4th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Sports hosted in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, last week. Read more

Wing lands acquisition in Singapore

SINGAPORE, 17 October 2017: Wings Travel Management, a global travel management company, is expanding its presence in the Asia Pacific region with an acquisition of a well known travel firm in Singapore.

Majoring in business travel and support services for clients in the corporate, oil, gas and marine industries, the company sealed a Sale and Purchase Agreement for the acquisition of a 70% stake in Olympia Travels & Tours for an undisclosed sum.

Although the acquisition will not be completed before 1 January 2018, Wings will serve its existing customers in Asia from Singapore with immediate effect. Read more
