Qatar Airways returns to Saudi Arabia

-

DOHA, 12 January 2021: Saudi Arabian Airlines and Qatar Airways resume flights from Doha to Riyadh and Jeddah.

Saudi will offer four scheduled weekly flights from Riyadh and three weekly flights from Jeddah to Doha.

According to the airline’s Twitter account, the first flight from Riyadh to Doha took off Monday, 11 January at 1640 local time and landed in Doha at 1805. The flight time is 1 hour and 25 minutes.

Qatar Airways has started a daily service to Riyadh from Doha also on Monday 11 January. It plans to start a four-weekly service to Jeddah on 14 January and will also fly to Damman, 16 January.

These flights will be the first after Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Egypt signed a reconciliation agreement with Qatar during the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit in the Saudi city of al-Ula, last week.

Saudi Arabia agreed to reopen airspace, land, and sea borders to Qatar closed by the Saudi-led blockade since 2017.  The UAE opened land, air and sea borders with Qatar last Saturday.
