THAI flies to Sendai

BANGKOK, 16 October 2019: Thai Airways International and Toyota Tsusho (Thailand) hosted a party to celebrate the introduction of THAI’s new flights to Sendai, a major city in Tohoku Region, Japan.

THAI President Sumeth Damrongchaitham said Japan was one of the most popular destinations that the airline served. Travel from Thailand is on the rise since Japan waived visas for Thai nationals. 

THAI’s new flights to Sendai will support business development between the two countries as the city is an economic gateway to the Tohoku region.

Sumeth Damrongchaitham, THAI President, Shigeki Kobayashi, Counsellor, Embassy of Japan in Thailand, Niitsuma Tomoki, Senior Director, City of Sendai, and Takuya Iwai, President, Sendai International Airport, jointly presided over the opening ceremony. Also present were Kiyoyoshi Oba, Toyota Tsusho Thailand President, Anujtha Jaovisidha, Vice President, Toyota Tsusho Thailand, Wiwat Piyawiroj, THAI Executive Vice President, Commercial.

THAI’s Bangkok-Sendai flights have already achieved an 80% advance bookings through to March 2020.

Sendai is THAI’s sixth city and seventh airport destination in Japan covering all regions of this country after Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka and Sapporo.

THAI will operate the Bangkok-Sendai inaugural flight on 29 October using a Boeing 777-300 aircraft with 364 seats (34 seats in Royal Silk Class and 330 seats in economy class.

THAI will operate three weekly flights to Sendai as follows;

• Bangkok-Sendai, TG626, on Tuesday Thursday and Saturday departs Bangkok at 2359 and arrives in Sendai at 0740 on the next day (local time).

• Sendai-Bangkok, TG627, on Wednesday Friday and Sunday departs Sendai at 1115 hours (local time) and arrives in Bangkok at 1605 hours.
