Cathay upgrades to A350s

HONG KONG, 4 June 2018: Good news for loyal Cathay Pacific travellers, the airline will upgrade from the B777 to the latest A350 1000 XWB aircraft on two popular routes to Europe.

The airline reported that its daily services to Amsterdam, effective 1 December, will switch to using the A350-1000 XWB that features the latest entertainment system replacing the older Boeing 777s.

Advance timetable information from Airlineroute indicates the A350 flight will depart Hong Kong at 0025, while the return flight will depart Amsterdam at 1245.

The Hong Kong-Zurich daily service will switch to the A350 on 31 March 2019. It will depart Hong Kong at 0005 and the return flight will depart Zurich at 1340.

A check of fares on the two routes, late June, shows Cathay Pacific has the cheapest offer for direct flights to Zurich at USD984 with SWISS trailing at USD1,338.

On the Amsterdam route, Cathay Pacific offering a roundtrip fare of USD1,227 is a distant second to KLM that sells at USD656. Both are selling a direct service with a flight time of 12 hours 25 minutes.
