DUBAI, 11 May 2018: Fuel costs rose 15% in 2017, but Emirates Airline still doubled its profit to AED 2.8 billion (USD 762,258,000) in its fiscal year 2017.
Higher fuel prices saw the airline’s overall costs increase by 7% in 2017, according to a Gulf News analysis.
But the airline benefited from the decline of the US dollar against other currencies, a factor that gave Emirates a AED 661 million boost.
The parent Emirates Group, reported AED 4.1 billion in profit for 2017, up 67% year-on-year, as revenue improved 8% to reach AED 102.4 billion.
Emirates Group declared a dividend of AED 2 billion to the Investment Corporation of Dubai.
