MTF takes meeting outdoors

VIENTIANE, 22 February 2017: Lao PDR will host the annual Mekong Tourism Forum in Luang Prabang 6 to 9 June adopting the theme, “Prosper with Purpose”.

Last week Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office executive director, Jens Thraenhart, met with Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism officials to finalise details of the two-day programme.

After the official welcome ceremony and morning keynote presentations the event will offer delegates a choice of eight “different tracks with two sessions each in the afternoons.   Read more

Mekong tourism to legalise

SIHANOUKVILLE, 12 July 2016: The Greater Mekong Sub-region’s tourism office based in Bangkok should gain legal status possibly by the end of this year.

Tourism officials attending the Mekong Tourism Forum, last week, confirmed, the Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office would be redefined as an intergovernmental organisation and registered under Thai law.

More plans for the Mekong

BANGKOK, 5 June 2015: A new tourism marketing strategy and action plan for the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) will be officially launched at the upcoming Mekong Tourism Forum in Danang, Vietnam during 15 to 19 June.

Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office executive director, Jens Thraenhart, reported at the TTM, Thursday, that the 2015 to 2020 strategy would help to increase tourism arrivals and boost the region’s competitiveness.

It is a rewrite of an earlier plan that covered five years up to 2014.
