London crash no link to terrorism

LONDON, 9 October 2017: A man arrested after his car ploughed into pedestrians in London’s museum district, injuring 11 people and sparking fears of a terror attack, was released from custody Sunday, police said.

The 47-year-old was held at the scene of Saturday’s crash on suspicion of dangerous driving, and questioned overnight over what police said was a traffic incident with no link to terrorism.

“This morning, he was released under investigation while enquiries continue,” the Metropolitan Police said in a statement. Read more

VIP welcome for caravan tour

CHIANG RAI, 12 September 2016: A caravan of 10 luxury SUVs from, Mongolia, China, rolled into this far north town, Friday, after completing a 4,000 km journey across China and Laos.

Provincial officials including the deputy governor of Chiang Rai welcomed the group of 40 Chinese tourists, 10 September, at a dinner reception hosted at the Mae Fah Luang Cultural Centre.

They are hoping the caravan will mark the end of a long absence of Chinese self-drive holiday makers who drove their luxury cars to Thailand in their thousands during the peak season, November 2015 through February, this year. Read more

China car-hailing app cashed up

BEIJING, 17 May 2016: Chinese ride-hailing app Didi Chuxing is mulling an initial public offering, a report said Monday, after US technology giant Apple invested USD1 billion.

A fierce rival of Uber, Didi is “targeting” a listing in New York next year, Bloomberg News said, citing unnamed people “familiar with the matter”.

The exact timing would depend on how its battle with US-based Uber goes in China, the sources were quoted as saying. Read more
